Great work Doc! For those reasons and the rule changes, I am less apprehensive about including the "P" word in my vernacular. FYI from henceforth I will refer to Calvin Murphy as the Id. ''In Freudian theory, the division of the psyche that is totally unconscious and serves as the source of instinctual impulses and demands for immediate satisfaction of primitive needs." Accurate?
Doc! some analysis with less ALL-CAPS. yesh. I love this stuff. I love seeing Doc (an "insider") with soooo much enthusiasm. Doesn't it remind you of Rudy? Makes you wonder if Doc is actually more homey than The Cat. Doc, to answer your question about Kenny...yes, he is lightning quick. That is one of the first things I noticed in the preseason, too. I love Kenny and his quiet, hardnosed attitude, but most importantly his speed and smarts. Kenny is never out of position or in Francis/mobley's way, even though he is generally always a feature on the strongside of offensive sets. I remember you say earlier (I think before the draft) that Mo was asked what he thought about slimming down to play a big SF in case we pursued Webber. Do you believe they asked Kenny the same question? It certainly looks like it. imo, Kenny is quick enough to do it, and that lateral quickness when playing perimeter D is not going to go unnoticed for too much longer. K9 can play some D. Most underrated Rocket this year, and I stick by my prediction that he'll find a Rick Fox role in this league...with that size, speed and perimeter D. They might score in different ways, but you can't keep this short college PF out of the game. As for Kenny's size, did anyone else notice how short Rodney White is and Corliss Williamson, in the Detroit game. There is no way those guys are within an inch of Kenny. White is listed at 6'9, and Scoreliss at 6'8"....that is a joke.
I too am very impressed with Terrance Morris. I knew he could rebound and play defense with those long arms and that great lateral movement. Yet he has pleasantly suprised me with so many other little things. His movement without the ball (ex. getting open for those back-door plays) is really nice. He also runs the floor amazingly well for a big man (which will fit great with our style of play). Finally he just has a knack for being around the ball, and he plays with so much poise even in the 4th quarter of the games. Hats off to the draft staff on this pick! Isn't it great to have a team with so much depth? Just imagine we beat the Spurs without Mo Taylor, Kenny Thomas, Moochie Norris and the Walt Williams. What an exciting season it is shaping up to be this year.
White is 6'8 corliss is 6'6 like kenny. Thomas, Trant, Corliss, and Caffey are just small 4's. They are wide with good feet, but they are mostly backups because of the length and size of the other 4's. Its a reason those guys get trade alot or play off the bench. Barkely was short, but he was a freak of nature because of his jumping, arm length, and power all of which none of these guys has as much of. I can really see us making the playoffs after the addition of willis. Now Rudy finally knows he can get a post up and a good shot against pretty much any center in the league. Plus Kevin brings toughness and rebounding. I really like us to push for the 5 spot now, but it won't be easy. Are we contenders, no, but we have a good chance to not have to play La,Sac, or Sa in the playoffs if we play hard and take care of the ball. All of the stupid ass ally's should be left in preseason and we should be ready for the hawks. People are overlooking them, but they match up real well against us and have advantages at a couple of spots so tne game will be close, real close. I'm ready, I have my vcr's and league pass ready for the games. I always tape the rockets while watching 4 other games on directv, so i'm ready. Lets Go!
Monday, October 29 Veteran McKey waived by Pacers -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press INDIANAPOLIS -- Derrick McKey, a 14-year NBA veteran, was waived Monday by the Indiana Pacers. "This was a very difficult decision to make because Derrick has been one of the best players we've had here and has been responsible for many of our successes," team president Donnie Walsh said. McKey played the past eight years with Indiana, averaging 8.5 points a game. "With the way our roster is developing and the improvement of our younger players, it was going to be hard for Derrick to get playing time this year. Hopefully, he'll be able to gain a roster spot with another team," Walsh said. McKey was acquired by Indiana on Nov. 1, 1993, in a trade with Seattle for Detlef Schrempf. He did not play in any preseason games this year because of a hamstring injury.
I am VERY ready for this season to GET UNDER WAY baby! I am totally geeked that Rudy and CD pulled a rabbit out of their hat, named WIllis ! Really second tour of duty and all, this guy is a ROcket, know what I mean ? The 'get real" attitude Rudy looks for in his vets. I feel we're going to make some moves, and getting to the second round is possible. If Cato shows up the way Rudy says he is, then the playoffs are a definate, IMO. It means the middle won't be chopped chicken liver, and WE HAVE the BEST backcourt playing today, yes sir. Let's roll !
