you saw how good tmac played with landry in stretches before landry got injured. it doesn't matter if tmac is as good as kobe or not. the problem is yao can only play one style: in the post.

he can't pop for jumpers to mix up the pick and roll. he can't finish around the paint like an amare/landry. he can't run the fast-break.

yao is more dominant than pau no doubt, but pau would fit this team perfectly with what we are trying to do.

our offense was at its best the first 6-7 games yao went out and landry was beasting.

He looked as good as he ever has at the beginning of this season. If he has lost any athleticism it isn't much. McGrady just isn't a guy who can be an efficient "low volume" scorer. He either needs to dominate the ball, take a ton of shots and be THE MAN on offense or you are going to see his offensive rhythm suffer. It isn't that he is selfish it is that he needs to get himself going mentally to be most effective as a scorer.

I think the guy's confidence is only as good as his last few shots. Watch him when he hits a few shots in a row. He becomes very animated and confident. Watch him miss a few in a row and suddenly he is limping or grimacing and appears to pack it up mentally for the night and start hoisting bad jump shots.
