So, Moochie's contract was not an absolute albatross? One bad contract for one bad contract: even. Moochie for Spoon: brilliant.
Overall team grade C-. I would have given a C but for the way they collapsed in the last playoff game even though they were leading at halftime. Winning and losing is part of the game but losing heart and not fighting is not acceptable.
Brilliant? Who gave Moochie that contract? Id love to have a job where I mismanage my company's finances, create a disadvantage in the marketplace and then get slighlty more than market value for the bad assets that I was responsible for, and be perceived as brilliant.
Who gave Moochie that contract? The bulk of that blame probably lies with Rudy T. He had the final say on all bball issues.
The grade for the bench should have been an F. Mo T is the only player from the bech that had any contributions. Padgett played well but JVG didn't have him in his rotation for him to contribute consistantly. The bench (or lack thier of ) was the reason why the team tired out in the post season. JJ played the most min of his career and he had no legs in the post season so all his shots were short. Mobley and Steve both were in the top of the league in min played. Yao was tired but then again Yao wakes up tired.
Nice to see people are still finding ways to blame Rudy for the Rockets' failures, but that wasn't a 'bball issue'. "Rudy, do you want us to sign Moochie?" "Yes, keep him." That's a bball issue. Deciding on x-years for y-dollars - NOT a bball issue. Haven't you been reading Jeff's posts on how the Rockets are run? It's a group effort. This doesn't even speak to how much Moochie's signing even hurt the Rockets to begin with, which in my opinion, is close to not at all.
