Tip-ins and alley-oops are not face up game. Face up is when you face the basket from 15 feet out in the triple threat or the spot up situation. Yao could shoot a jumper too. That did not make him a PF. Davis is 18 y/o and just starting to tap his post up game. In the NBA, he's gonna be posting up....unless he runs into a goofball coach on a loser team. Once again, what team is going to draft Davis and play him at the 4?
I didn't say that those were face up plays. I was explaining where most of his points have come from and it definitely wasn't with his back to the basket. Why do you keep asking us what team is going to draft him to play the Pf position? Obviously whoever gets the 1st pick in the draft. Even if Davis was strictly a post player with his back to the basket you act like their has never been a PF in the history of the NBA to play with his back to the basket.
A tweener? He is in no shape or form a 3. He is probably a 4 in the NBA, but he could still grow and add some bulk to play the 5.
This. Right now he looks like a pure PF, but he's only 19. It's possible he could eventually be big enough to play the 5.
Serious? Davis can be a 5. He can bulk up, just like Howard did when he first came into the league. Olajuwon was 6-9. Davis is 6-10 legitamitely, maybe 6-11 or 7 with shoes. The guy is pretty agile for a C, not a smuch as the dream. But Davis was apparently 6-1 as a freshman in high school and then just grew enormously over the last 3-4 years to his height, so he still has some of his agile guard play.
Yes he actually does have physical tools comparable to Hakeem, now that you mention it, does he have Hakeem's work ethic and ability to translate those tools to skills? We will see.

Drummond is going to be the next Thabeet. All those physical tools and he couldn't even get his team past the first round.
Don't really care what the fans think. Don't really care what Cal thinks. What matters is what quality NBA GMs think. You don't take a guy that can block 5 shots a game and have him run around the perimeter.

You don't care what Cal thinks? Cal is Davis' coach and would likely reflect NBA coaches and GMs, ya think? Probably reflects them more than you would. You heard of Serge Ibaka? What position does he play? Why is he blocking more shots than ever? Because thanks to Kendrick Perkins & Nazr Mohammed he no longer plays backup C and can roam around at PF 100% of the time (except when the other team goes small). Not having post responsibilities on defense has set him free and it shows. I think in a few years he'll add a bit more weight and maybe play C full-time.

No way he's a 3. People talk about all year how hard it is to move down a position, and we see that with Morris. As a 3 he's going to have to handle the ball, at 6'10 and with such long arms his handles will max out, if you guys think he can be a 3...shoot jumpers and slash on offense...come on now. Not even Garnett can play 3 on a consistent basis in the NBA and he has some of the best handles for a big man ever. The guy is extremely skilled though and putting him at the 3 is akin too putting Josh Smith there...sure you can do it but you may not like the results... He's like a Duncan/Pau...he'll switch positions depending on situations, who they are playing against and who is on his teams roster.

I don't believe he will be a 3 either, but think of Kevin Durant, who actually started out as a 2 and did pretty well. I don't know exactly how Davis' height and reach compares to KD but they are similar. Davis' work ethic will determine where his skillset maxes out. Will be fun watching. Completely agree with you on the Josh Smith analogy. Been saying that for years.
