That would be REALLY nice for the Rocks. HOWEVER, Erob will be going nowhere. Charlotte is in love with this guy and he's in love with them. We would prolly have to forget about Marc Jackson, or an other center to get him along with most of our FA. He'll prolly want Mot Taylor money, maybe more if he comes to Houston.

If you read some of the older threads you might relize that there are reasons that oeilpere and Doc Rocket are prevy to certain info that most of us are not. While their rumers might be hear say, it is hear say from with in the orginization. If they say there is a trade being discussed then I believe that with out question. As has been reported several times however, about 90 percent of the trades that are discussed by teams never materialize for various and in many cases obvious reasons. It should also be obvious why you will most likely never hear OP or DR mention their sources.

Yes, Charlotte is in love with this guy (eddie Robinson), BUT they can ONLY OFFER HIM THE $4.5M exception- no more. Teams with cap space can offer him more and he can walk. Same goes for Marc Jackson.

So my question is: Why the h..l would we want to sign shandon anderson to more money or bring back no rebounding Mo Taylor when we could have this high flyer? In my opinion, Eddie Robinson is the 3rd best free agent out there that's not automatically signing with their current team (stockton, dikembe) after C-webb and Tony Davis.

    ------------------
    Houston should sign Eddie Robinson.

Name a quicker trio than Stevee, Cat, and Eddie Robinson?

Why can Charlotte only offer him the middle class exception? Hasn't he been working under the same contract for more than 3 years?

tony davis????? Think you meant Antonio. [IMG]
As for Erob, i still think he would take less $$$ to stay with Charlotte. But it would be interesting if the rockets offered him 6 or 7 milll and told mo taylor to walk. We would definitly have a better team in the future.

Hey TexasG, the Atlanta trade would appear lopsided, but u r basing your take on potential alone. When Dermarr was drafted, it was after his freshman year of college, so what is he, 20 years old? Mohammed, stuck as a reserve w/ Philly until the trade and put up nice numbers in limited minutes, but in a contract year. Both players are going on potential right now. None have become major contributors to any team yet.

Oily's doing us a great service. Whether he knows someone w/in the organization or is indeed within the organization, do u actually think he would rat out him or his source to prove himself when in that past has proven himself over and over again. 2 things about this deal. Your GM either really likes our players better than the ones mentioned or we have to give up more than what's mentioned, but these players are the main ingredients in this rumor.

I totally agree about MacCullogh. One thing you'll notice about the big guy is that he has excellent hands. He rarely, if ever, drops any passes thrown his way and has a knack of bringing in rebounds.

Big Todd, I thought, performed pretty well against Shaq in this year's finals as well.

Granted, he'll never be a premier center, but he's better than Cato.

Hey Oeilpere.. what about Jerome Williams? Are the Rockets considering going after him at all?

So Pops, what can you tell us about the trade front? Are there players that the Rockets want that could come out of left field? What "signals" have you heard from Eddie Robinson's camp or any others about the Rockets?

If I recall correctly, in the past, Oeilpere (aka POPEYE) said he is in the medical supply business and has entre to various people who are intimately involved in pro sports, who often know what is going on from the inside of various teams, including the Rockets. Actually, sometimes his information comes from other teams outside the Rockets organization, if I've understood correctly, but this gives additional perspective on what the team is or is not considering.

The reason he changed his name (from Popeye) before was due to once revealing information that was potentially damaging to the Rockets, so he has been even more careful regarding what he says or doesn't say, and in protecting his sources.

The other two insiders who give us valuable information are Clutch and Doc Rocket. If you attack either of these three, you will be quickly disliked by many on this BBS. Occaisonally others such as NYRich, Almu, Rocketfan34 (and many others) tell us things they hear at parties or business contacts and friends from potential insiders. We always value this info, even though we usually test things over time, and Oeilpere has definitely been tested.

Probably the inside info that everyone got the biggest kick out of, was when Rocketfan34 was walking in the mall, and overheard someone from the Rockets discussing the Francis trade on his cell phone, and reported it to the BBS before it became public. Dangest story we ever heard...

He's 6'9", has 3 point range, a sweet stroke, I don't have to tell you how he attacks the rim AND he can guard Kobe.
    -Tranamerica34

Eddie Robinson was 2 out of 4 on 3 pointers throughout the entire season. I don't think he has much 3 point range. With the new zone and our need for the sf's to be able to hit the 3 point shot, I don't know how much he can help us. Langhi got 3 point range, Griffen is supposed to also have 3 pt range, and T-mo had a good 3 pointer in soph year of college... we'll see if he can get it back this year.

I really think that trade with Atlanta might go down. If I am not mistaken, Cato & Shandon are from Atlanta, so they probably have some connections to the Hawks brass.

Not sure how Demar would fit in with the Rockets, but I am sure it would be easier using him for a backup role than Shandon.

DeMarr would be a great backup SG to Mobley that could also play SF. I recall during the last draft people were saying that while DJ can play the 3 he has better skills to be an NBA 2.

Plus Rudy T gets all dreamy when you talk about DJ. I think DJ got picked 6th in draft last year, didnt he? Right before Mihm and Crawford and the allmighty Prz? So in Rudy's eyes, the draft was over by pick 6.

Oh yeah, lopsided trades dont happen [IMG]

    lets see

    Brand for Chandler
    Bibby for Jwill(lol)
    Hunter for Foster
    Sar for what, Gashole?
    Griffen for 3 scrub rookies

oh yeah, some of the most recent trades and they all appear lopsided to me.

Why the hell would Pops give his source? He has contacts high up in the Rockets, and a lot of his info that he leaks usually ends up being floated around the internet as "scoops" by other people. You can go ahead and try to debunk his rumors all you want, but it just makes you look foolish and ignorant of the value of Pops. Gimme a link, a quote ... whatever. If he gave you his sources most he might not have his sources for much longer. Why would he jeopardize that for YOU? LOL.

Oooohhhh, Todd McCollough sounds tempting! He has a nice touch around the basket and is a hard worker and hustler. Nazr Mohammad would be nice as well. I think he is starting to come around after leaving Kentucky to early. I would prefer Mohammad. Sabonis is interesting, even though I would guess that if Sabonis wants a championship ring he would play for a contender, and come off the bench for a team like the Lakers, or San Antonio, or go to Milwaukee, or Philadelphia or something. What's up with all of these new guys calling out the old guard!?

    Oeilpere=Popeye

    Oeil=Eye Pere=Father (aka Pop)

If you break down the word Popeye to two separate word and translate it to French you get Oeilpere...very nice!!!!

I would hate (love) to be RT or CD right now with all the decisions they are faced with. The first one will obviously be resign Dream and if it's plausible to do so with the $$$$ he is demanding. I remember watching games last year and noticing that when Dream would go to the bench we would slowly start losing control of the game due to no real presence in the paint. And as soon as he returned, he would get a block or a steal and would alter the other team's rhythm and shift it back to us. Dream is very valueable, but at what cost do we keep him. And how long can he give us at least 60 games a season. We have all grown so used to him it's gonna be difficult not seeing him on the team.(whenever that happens)
I've always been a big ERob advocate and still think highly of him, but signing him to the Rox would be hard to justify after the draft. If we did, then we would have to change up the team a little. I know he played some 4 at Charlotte, but thats in the East. If we signed him he would prob. have to play alot at the 4 also, which would make us an even more up-tempo team, which I like. But we would have to be runnin and gunnin all 48 min. much like a college team. We could get away with it this year with the zone , but what if they decide to do away with it next year. There are some teams that are gonna try it this year like Boston and Seattle, teams loaded with guards and fowards. But I think RT and CD feel more comfortable with some big men. Although one thing that we've got going is that he's only been in the league since '99 and couldn't command that much $$$.
I think Shandon becomes expendable this season. If we want some Experience in the back court we should look elsewhere.
PS: lets hope Cato has a breakout season. You can interpret that anyway you want.

TexasG, oilpere said it was SA/CAto/PLUS for Dermarr/Nazr. I think the "PLUS" means there may be something in addition to Cato and SA. Besides, Dermarr wasn't exactly a world beater last year, so I wouldn't call him a stud yet.
And if Oilpere reveals his sources, as you seem to want him to, then you can forget about getting inside info on this board.
