It's a nice trade but i think we're tinkering a little too much with something that is pretty good. I'm completely down for a couple of trades here and there, but i think this one is a bit too excessive. Our team chemistry was amazing last year, but if we ship in 3 new rotational players into the mix all at once, we'd have to rebuild that chemistry again.
If we got knocked out the first round again last season i'd seriously think about doing this trade, but we were only 1 game off the WCF without Yao and Tmac. I don't think such a drastic trade is neccesary for us to take it to the next level.

Say no to Baron Davis, even if you can ship McGrady for him.

Well thought-out, but I would not want to be tied down to Baron Davis' contract. Also, while I always wanted Camby on the Rockets, the way Denver did get better (largely due to Billups' arrival, but at least Camby was not missed at all) after he left kind of opened my eyes.

I would much rather send T-Mac, Barry, Lowry, Dorsey and Cook to Phoenix for Shaq and Nash...

I don't like Baron Davis. He's a career chucker shooting at .400. However when he has his head on straight is motivated he can really do some damage but it's too much of a risk because of his contract.

Baron Davis would be good for the Rockets for a season or two but having a huge long term contract is enough to say no to this proposed trade. Having flexibility is important for teams if they want to be competitive.

i think it's a pretty well thought out proposal. i would just pose a few issues with it:

I don't know how much Minnesota wants more power forwards. they already have a tough time playing Love and Jefferson on the court together to the point they are considering sending Love to Memphis for the No. 2 pick (and presumably Rubio). Jefferson, Love, Landry and Gomes sound good on paper, but you really can't play any 2 of them at the same time and not get completely destroyed defensively.

I just don't see the Clips giving up Camby. It's $7.5mm expiring with incentives up to only $10mm. That's a great deal for a guy coming off a good year in a contract year. I really think they would make us eat Kaman's awful contract instead, though it being Dunleavy, you never know. He could be that dumb.

I also tend to agree with the people wary of Davis' contract. That thing is huge and more importantly, goes too long for my taste. Plus, he is a true chucker who I can just see in big moments running the offense away from Yao. Also, there's the worry that he may just lose interest like this year, in which case you wind up paying $14mm to a guy who has never been a defensive stalwart or someone known as coachable.

I say no to Camby/Davis. Two STAT hungry players that would ruin our team chemistry. Artest won't coexist with B. Diddy. Book it.

Jon said Rockets don't want BD. He's not moneyball player. Camby neither.

Hardly a big improvement. The only improvement is Camby.

Say NO to Baron Davis. Career shooting 0.409. No thanks.

I thought you couldnt trade youre first round picks 2 years in a row.

Other than that I like the trade. People are down on B Davis but how would you feel in his position? I think he would be fired up to play for the Rockets and a chance to win a championship.

On another note the Boston Celtics have reportedly offered Detroit Ray Allen and Rhondo for Stuckey, Hamilton and Prince. I would love to be on the receiving end of either of those deals.

How about Brooks, TMac & Landry for Allen and Rondo?

    depth chart
    c- Ming
    pf- Scola/ Hayes/ Dorsey
    sf- sg-Artest/ Allen/ Battier
    pg- Rondo/ Lowry

Or Brooks, TMac & Landry for Hamilton, Prince and Stuckey?

    depth chart
    c- Ming
    pf- Scola/ Hayes/ Dorsey
    sf- Artest/ Prince
    sg- Hamilton/ Battier
    pg- Stuckey/ Lowry

Still doest solve our biggest problem IMO, backup C but still a pretty potent lineup either way.

No, I just forgot to add him. In all likelyhood, both Cook & Cardinal would just be released outright.

    All,

As for Baron's contract, it is huge, but it only lasts for 4 more years. If this nucleous were to work out like I think it would, we should be able to keep the main players together for 2-3 years. That way, Baron would be an expiring contract in his 4th & final year.

During that 2-3 year run, we could use our MLE & draft picks to add some youth to our current group of Harden, Dorsey, & Lowry. Along the line we could trade Yao & Baron's expiring contracts for some more young talent. It kind of perpetuates itself. :D

Only 4 more years!? Thats quite awhile for a guy like Davis who may not give it every night. Even still if he did, I dont know, thats a long time. What if we made this deal and things blow up in the first year? Yao may be gone then, and you're left with a bad contract in Davis. Id take more of a risk on a guy with 2 years left on his contract like a Vince Carter. Or if you want a one year rental to make a run, look at players like Ray Allen or Amare Stoudemire.

I hope the Rockets steer clear of Baron Davis. His contract is so large it has it's own zip code.
