Actually Shane is one of the only people to ever come out of Duke that I could stand. In fact he may be the only one... it hurt a lot rooting for Coach K during the Olympics though.
I prefer TWilliams myself, but if the Rockets need a big guard to pair w/Brooks, playing play lock down D on opposing SGs while handling the ball, then why not bring back DJ Strawberry? Then draft the best SHOOTING & ATHLETIC SG available, e.g. Budinger?
What about Austin Daye (son of former NBA player Darren Daye)... I heard he might fall to early to late 20s if he doesn't goto Detroit at #15.... He reminds of me a Lamar Odom type of Player hes 6-11 and can shoot the ball and can be hard to match up with for other teams because of his size and skill set... Draft Projection: Lottery to mid first round Notes: Daye announced on April 15th that he was declaring for the 2009 NBA Draft. Daye will not hire an agent to preserve his college eligibility. Positives: Austin Daye - Excellent athlete with a huge wingspan -Big-time scorer who can play inside or outside - Deep range on his jumper - Good shooting off the dribble - Good shot-blocker -Above-average ball handler for his size Negatives: - Needs to add a lot of strength to his bony frame - Poor decision-making/shot selection - Questionable defender - Hasn't been thrust into a big role for Gonzaga yet Summary: June 12 Update: Daye has the talent of a lottery pick, and has impressed teams in workouts and at the Chicago combine. However, his lack of physical strength has teams worried (he weighed just 191 pounds in Chicago). Daye's range goes anywhere from 13 to 20 with the Pacers, Suns, Pistons, and Jazz all showing interest. That will probably be enough to convince him to stay in the draft and hire an agent. Right now I'd say there's a 90 percent chance he stays in the draft.
I hear you on that. I would add Grant Hill to that list, though. He was (and still is to an extent) such an immense overall talent and is such a likable guy. I sort of feel the same way about Elton Brand, to a lesser extent.
dude where do you get your info? One, just by looking at that video you see he's only has average athleticism and DX proves it. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Austin-Daye-1316/ We would have to give up a rotation player and maybe more to get a pick high enough to draft (14-20)him anyway and he isn't worth a Carl Landry or Scola.
If Morey only ends up w/a 2nd rounder, what about Nick Calathes? Long (6'5). May not be athletic enough for the NBA, but the kid can flat out ball from the 1 spot, a true point. Could be a poor poor poor man's Nash, or maybe a Scola-like PG (not athletic, but hustles all the time plus crafty/smart).
Nice! Thanks for the vid, hadn't seen it. Just as I feared, Calathes hasn't gained weight/muscle that I had hoped in the offseason. He will never be a athletic freak, but he needs to gain weight so he's not so easily muscled b/c I doubt his lateral speed will improve much. Although he can create for himself b/c of his ability to change speeds (he can go from slow to real slow then back to slow again in an instant ). Calathes has about as much lift on his jumper as Yao, but man can he shoot (ball always leaves his hand the same every time), and he has great court vision and awareness. Just a really really smart BB player.
