All fluff aside, Kelly, how do you think the winning or losing of this series will affect a contract renewal of Jeff Van Gundy? Some believe he is on thin ice while others believe he is a shoe-in for an extension. What is your take on this?
Sorry. I think I've slept for three hours this week, but I still somehow missed this. I think JVG stays because Morey probably feels he can provide him with the sort of plucky players he likes, while making sure those plucky ones are efficient and productive. For instance, when JVG's plucky guy is Ryan Bowen, JVG = bad. When his plucky guy is Hayes, JVG = good. Morey knows his coach, knows his limitations, and he won't try to force productive but unplucky guys like Stro Swift on him.
