so they have puppies at the pound for adoption too? is it something where you have to go and get lucky because puppies are all taken really fast?
eh, not really. it's definitely got some pit in it, and I wouldn't say the rottweiller is strong (doesn't look it yet), but that definitely is not a purebred pitbull. Besides the fact that there is no such breed as pitbull, the classic "pitbull" looking puppy is more like: where there are differences in head shape, stance, etc. Again, definitely some "pit" in there, but not pure. I think you can get the dog DNA test pretty cheap these days...at or around $100 it's definitely better you got him at a young age to socialize and train. though as far as pitbulls are concerned, we've rescued plenty of adult pits that have no demonstrated violent tendencies in any way. EDIT: If you're looking for some good one on one dog training (which I'd recommend, as opposed to something like a training class at a Petco), I can recommend http://doubledogtraining.com/ One on one is a little more expensive inevitably, but worth it. I believe they have puppies both at BARC and the SPCA. If you're looking to adopt a puppy from a reputable rescue group in town, try these folks: http://www.pupsquad.org/
