Barely remember it; and unfortunately I really don't remember Dan Pastorini. Prior to 1985 I was pretty much all Astros all the time. But if he lacked mental toughness, as you state earlier, how much really could he coulda-been? Perhaps you confuse my takes with those of others. I vigorously defended Carr for years, and I still think he's a solid, standup guy (although I can't really know that). I'm quick to point out his miserable performance, but I don't ever mean to imply anything him in a negative light beyond the fact that IMO he was never going to be a great NFL QB (though I once thought he was, and would argue with you for days if you disagreed). And I certainly am not deriving any satisfaction from his failures elsewhere. I actually was hoping he'd figure it out.
But the point is that you keep saying you choose not to focus on him while constantly talking about him. If you don't want to focus on him, then don't. Why on earth do you care if MadMax does if you couldn't care less about Carr? Every thread about Carr basically has a post by you saying you don't like talking about Carr. Since you post in all these threads, I'm assuming you're somehow forced to post in threads about Carr, in which case the only way you could stop posting about Carr is if other people stopped discussing him so you weren't forced to respond.
While I'm thankful that you assumed it was a playful little dig rather than something malicious, I actually meant neither of the two. I agree with you that C&C Idiot Factory ruined the Texans. In fact, in a reply to a poll in 2005 about whose fault it was, I responded, "I blame the coaches. They designed this turd and then staffed it 22 turds," or something to that effect. I was just adding that I truly don't believe we can ever know what David Carr could have been (and that's kind of sad). He might have been a serviceable QB ala Trent Green or Vinny or whomever, or he might have never been anything more than Tim Couch (or a really nice version of Ryan Leaf). But, thanks to the idiots, we'll never know.
Who are you to get in the way of our catharsis? Shouldn't you be in the GARM, hating on Rockets ex-GM Carroll Dawson? Or perhaps spouting off on Texans ex-GM Charley Casserly or ex-coach Dom Capers? Oh, wait, that's right, you don't discuss those guys at all; you rant, b****, and moan. Don't pretend your s*** don't stink, dude. We obliged you in your time of need; now please kindly return the favor.
I asked a handful of questions in the opening post of this thread. It's not as much DC but the excuses that were made for him that I see are dying here.
**** off, max. seriously. ****. off. you started - not participated in, but STARTED a thread about david carr - what in the h-e-double hockey sticks did you expect to happen? did you REALLY think we were going to have a friendly discussion about his future? yeah, because lord knows we've all proven to be on the fence surrounding david carr's tenure here in houston; why, he NEVER stirs up a reaction – let’s break out s’mores, do each other’s hair and dish – should be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think he’ll wind up out of football – what about you?????????!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and when the thread (again, a thread you started) predictably devolves into the same ol' same ol', you have the gall to immediately retreat to your high horse and whip out a "jack ass" – which, so far as i can tell, is really just your way of cowardly bowing out of a discussion that, once again, you started. also, for the record: you keep mentioning (a lot) that you put me on your ignore list... i'm going to let you in on a little secret - in the immortal words of tommy lee jones: i. don't. care. ignore away. but don't post **** you know is going to stir up emotional reactions and then stand above it all and while casting aspersions down upon others for taking the bait. and you know what REALLY riles me up? i couldn’t give two ****s about david carr. i HATE having to discuss him; but the vitriol is so thick it cakes his tenure in a coat of inaccuracies that only serve to minimize the bigger culprits: mcnair, casserly, capers… and whenever those culprits or the excuses are brought up, it's always met with the same dismissive response... before heading right back to david carr. again. for a year now (at least), you've claimed to be fully aware and understanding and accepting of all these other viable, legitimate issues surrounding the texans... and yet, you're starting threads called, "My New David Carr Thread"... as stated previously, i eagerly await your "My New Dom Capers Thread." things ARE better without carr; but marginally: the QB (who didn’t have to earn his starting position, btw, and may or may not be better than his infinitely cheaper back-up - sound at all familiar?) is still getting his dick knocked into the turf on a weekly basis (or in schaub’s case, vagina); the running game is still anemic and no threat to do anything beyond falling into the nearest offensive lineman five yards beyond the line of scrimmage; they still can’t score in the 3Q; they haven’t developed/found any playmakers beyond andre johnson; the offensive line still needs improvements, which has been a standing problem since 2002… but yeah, you’re right: the excuses that we made for carr DO seem to be dying… except for… well, all of them. and i expect you to discuss exactly… let’s see: 2, carry the 5…: none of them.
I absolutely started the thread Ric. But I'm not the one b****ing about it....all the while posting about it with fervor while screaming that you really don't care about it and that, in fact, you actually hate posting about it. Again...if you hate posting about DC...why the hell did you: 1. open the thread with DC's name in the title?; 2. post in it at all?
He was just a pretty boy who didn't give two ****s about winning if you believe those who said he was the last one to arrive and the first one to leave.
Ok, I have to ask it. Ric, why don't you just admit you are a Carr fan? (Not that there is anything wrong with that) You vehemently defend the guy every time something bad is said about him. You even get emotional about it as referenced above. You have no problems saying bad things about other athletes but when it comes to Carr you defend him to the death. I don't see how you can say you are not a fan of his.
Oh, don't let those posts fool you. Their number or their intensity. He really doesn't care at all. See how much he doesn't care?
From reading Ric's responses earlier, I'd say he's only vehement about the fact that Capers and Casserly are far more to blame for this debacle than David Carr is. Say, 99.5% to 0.5% in terms of blame ratio. At least, that's what I gathered.
