My mom has claimed to know so many famous people throughout her life. It's even rubbed off on me.

My true story is that I learned how to swim at Adam/Andy/Dave Laroche's house. My grandma lived next door to them and was house-sitting while they were out on a road trip (Dave, as a coach). We borrowed their pool, where I learned how to swim. I also went trick-or-treating at Charlie Hayes' house when I was little...he didn't answer though.

    Anyways, back to my mom...

She SWEARS she grew up next door to Lyle Lovett and down the street from Demi Moore. She swears Demi's brother is married to her cousin.

Tonight, my grandma and grandpa came up from Tomball (Tomball to New York....long drive, heh), and they were talking. What's funny is that I'm always telling my girlfriend (yes, I mentioned her  ) about these stories, and she just writes them off and tells me I'm stupid. Anyways, my mom and her mom were talking about when Lyle Lovett used to live next door (he was apparently like 17 and my mom 12), and how apparently, his dog (German Shepard) used to come over to their house and bite their cows' ears. Then, all of a sudden my mom bursts out with, "YEAH! His dog killed our billy goat! Remember?!?!" I almost peed myself, and my girlfriend, with all of the stories she's heard, nearly did the same. It was hilarioud.

Anyways, I just thought that was a fun little story I'd share.

What sorts of famous people do you know or have connections to?

My dad was good friend's with Willie Nelson and Kinky Friedman. He was also friends with a lot of the other acts that played and hung out in the same crowd; Jerry Jeff Walker, David Alan Coe, Charlie Daniels, Ray Benson, Waylon, Kristoferson and several others. My dad passed away in 2000, but I still go backstage to a few shows here and there when I can make it and shoot the **** with em.

She was 12, and he was 17. That's illegal.

I have a friend that swears she saw Cadilac Anderson in a grocery store.

PS...Lyle Lovett has never come off as completely law abiding.

Why have not seen ONE person's name I would recognize?

I tend to be a media w****. In college, and afterwards, I always liked the idea of seeing some girl reporting right after I just did her.

Sorry. Just being shallow, and honest.

I guess the last time was in 2002. My gf at the time worked for fox, and I loved it. Something about seeing Melissa Wilson grinding two guys was pretty hot. And then we'd have Jorge Vargas come over and whine about some bimbo like 3814 keeps doing. Plus, She knew a ton of old Rockets, so when she'd see Horry or Cassell out, they knew her immediately.

That, and she had good boobs. Why I screwed that relationship up still eludes me.

One of my great aunts assisted in the home birth and delivery of wee Willie Shoemaker the jockey. They had to use an oven to warm him.

One of my wife's friends is a cousin to some country singer named Hank Ketchum.

As a kid I used to be on a swim team with Olympian Keena Rothammer from Houston.

When I was 12 I swam in a 200M butterly against future Olympian and Texan Doug Russell. I think he won Gold that next summer. I was in the lane next to him and met him halfway back on my first lap.

my sister was in the same grade and had some classes with kim zmeskal's brother.

crystal bernard (main girl on Wings) went to my high school, but before me.

i had a crush on jennie thompson, who was a gymnast who i think came really close to making the US olympic team one time and was on a few world championship teams, in the 4th grade.

i saw matt bullard at the mall one time, and that pretty much trumps anything else that has been said in this thread. air bull, right in front of me.

When I was in high school in the Denver area LaPhonso Ellis, Scott Hastings, and John Elway all came through my drive-thru...

I also almost knocked Phonz shortly after one of his many knee surgeries while I was browsing new releases at Blockbuster. I remember that his little daughter wanted to rent Black Beauty, but Phonz said that they had seen it too many times already...

My dad went to high school with Janis Joplin.

I played basketball with Rashard Lewis in middle school.

My Biggie: I almost went to prom with Leann Rimes. I was really good friends with her cousin. They were about the same age (my friend was a year or two older) and spent alot of time together growing up. Leann was REALLY big at the time and was 16 (I was 17) and wasn't going to have an opportunity to go to a prom so her parents asked my friend to "hook her up" and she approached me about it. It didn't work out, she had a concert in Indio, CA the night of our problem. I talked to her briefly on the phone. I still wondered for years whether it was all real or if I was just getting majorly screwed with. I confirmed that it was true years later when I met her in person (after she'd gotten married).

Hey RMTex, is Vince Bell a name in music around Texas?

He and I both went to Memorial but he was a bit older. Once when I was in Houston, I heard him on the radio and I remembered he used to play the guitar.

In the summer of 1973, I worked for the Oilers at summer training camp in Kerrville. I spent six weeks there and worked home games the next season.

    Sid Gillman was the GM
Tom Williams was the Assitant GM
    Bill Peterson was the HC
    Pastorinini/Dickey were the QBs
John Matuszak was the #1 pick

And I knew this pretty girl once
    She was eighteen...
    Maybe
    What's a year or two
And one day when she asked me
    If I loved her
    I said baby
    What's it worth to you
    But look around
    And you will see
This world is full of creeps like me
    You look surpised
    You shouldn't be
This world is full of creeps like me
