You basically made a request for people to stay away from making comments that you construe to be 'lacking'.
Yet you have no problem derailing threads over people's grammar and spelling.

    Take your own advice
And no, I don't really care that much that you get on people about grammar etc. Just like I don't think it was a big deal what KingCheetah posted.

No, I did not ever ask anyone to "stay away" from anything  . Do not assume my sentences mean something other than what I have written.
Have I ever derailed one of your threads? If I have, sir, then yes, I am guilty of that.
I assure you it was NOT a big deal, but it didn't seem like something appropriate. Big deal compared to Inappropriate [a child is involved] is a big difference. I agree.

Guess I'm reading too much into it.

Either way, I'm derailing this pretty badly.
Once again OP, I hope everything works out great for your sister.

I actually thought of you as I have gotten back on a progressive rock kick and I was thinking about Porcupine Tree (you are like the only person I know that likes that band, let alone has heard of them) and Spock's Beard.

Anyhoo, maybe I am being a little melodramatic about it being too hard to read; however, I am old school in that I use the original BBS font or whatever you call it (I am a non-dark side user). Maybe if I switched over to the dark side, it wouldn't be that big of a deal even though it is still annoying. BTW - while we are talking about annoying, especially with the OP, is there any more annoying user name than his? "T-mac&Yao=RING" - reminds me of DiSeAeD MoNkEy and the fact that he thinks that McGrady can help Yao win a ring, well lololololol (although in his defense, how many of us thought that McGrady would turn out to be a p*ssy), but I digress...

When I read his posts, it reminds me of the old "Saved by the Bell" series in which Zack would call "time out" and everybody would "freeze". He then would look into the camera and talk to the audience at home, sorta Mr. Rogers style. Well, if you look at the scripts for those episodes, every time he did that, his lines would be in italics. So, needless to say I feel like I am watching one of those old "Saved by the Bell" episodes or even a Mr. Rogers show when I read his posts since he is talking in a way that the people around him *really aren't supposed to hear*. Yea, I know that I am a weirdy ("Boom! Roasted") but that is honestly what I think, every time I read a post by the one and only "T-mac&Yao=RING".

Had to step out of lurk mode for this one. My Godmother's son didn't start walking until he was 4 and didn't start talking until after he was 5. We swore something was wrong with that kid, but the doctors said he was fine. He actually turned out to be super smart. He earned an academic scholarship to college and graduated this past year with a degree. Get a second opinion, but there is still reason to be optimistic.

I never take your posts seriously because you come off as a troll, but for your sister's sake get a second opinion.

I'm not going to read this whole thread with its disagreements. If she is not talking at 5 she needs to have some sort of intervention. You are already behind in terms of getting "early intervention."

Do not see a pediatrician. Too many have a wait and see attitude. See a SLP or even a developmental psychologist.

    How is she socially?

I'm sorry but this is horrible advice. This little girl is more than 3 years behind normal speech development. This is extremely serious and she needs to be evaluated by a speech language specialist immediately.

I know a kid who didn't talk until he was 6, so It's probably nothing wrong with her.Just read to he and try to get her to communicate...she will eventually start talking.

I smoke and do not have lung cancer

therefore, smoking must not cause lung cancer

My grandmother ate red meat four times a day and lived to 90

    therefore

eating red meat is good for you.

Listen to Gifford> Maybe she will be fine. Odds are, she needs help.

I think people who could easily get annoyed by FONTS should visit a doctor or shrink as soon as possible.

    Back to the topic...

Is your sister grown up in an environment of multiple dialects? Like someone would talk to her in English yet another in Spanish or Chinese or some other languages?

I heard that some Chinese kids in South-East Asia started to talk late in their childhood since they were surrounded by too many dialects, Malays, English, and even different Chinese dialects such as Mandarin, Cantonese and FuJianHua etc. But once they managed to talk, they can easily speak multiple languages.

Seriously consult another doctor and seek some other experts' opnions, I know there are a lot of CTHDs in Clutchfans but you have to be very fortunate to get a professional advice here in your case.

My grandfather started talking when he was six, he just said "I need some water".

Some kids start to talk later in early childhood, there's no need to worry.
