Ok, I am out of shape and just started to play basketball again after about a year off....

The last 2 days I could barely make a single game when my left leg would go numb below the knee....I could no longer lift up the foot etc....

Any one ever experience this, and what was the diagnosis...

Also, I scheduled an appointment with my Dr tomorrow for a full physical, but I am hoping it is just some bad shoes or something.

Guess #1 - Shoes laced too tight

Guess #2 - Lumbar spine problems causing loss of sensation in the lower extremities

    Whats your blood pressure, DD?

Sounds like a circulatory or nerve problem Dakota, but I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn in years... :(

For years it was 115 over 76 or so....

But a couple of months ago I got it checked and it was like 135 over 80......

Speaking of numbness...my right foot goes numb when I do the elliptical machine or stairmasters. I've had a nerve problem in the same foot but it went away. Could this be the same nerve problem again?

DD- if mine turns out to be a nerve problem...yours might be.

Still on the high side of normal so that shouldn't be the cause. I'm guessing, too, that it might be a nerve/circulatory issue in the spine.

I am going to have it checked out, I think it is probably because I am WAY out of shape now....

He'll probably recommend you to a cardiologist, and you'll likely be given a stress test, EKG, etc...

It's probably nothing but it's good to get these things looked at. Most problems arrise because people never check out these types of symtoms and they continue to get worse.

    a serious question...
you didnt happen to take a major crap or diarrhea recently before hand?
it can lead to dehydration and a loss of potassium which muscles use for fuel.

also, the first thing the dr. is going to ask is.
    1) was it loss of feeling? (could you feel it if someone shot you in it?_
    or
    2) was it numbness (difficult for you to move it?)

#1 is generally nerves, and #2 is generally muscles.

It was hard to move it, I was dragging it up and down the court but could not lift the toes etc.

And it hurt......I just had my feet up and my legs crossed and they went numb as well.

I wonder if it is circulatory....

how much do you want to bet that this isn't about playing basketball nor is it about his left leg. It's about sex and his middle "leg."

look at his signature...it should read:

    Penetration - Energy = Dissatisfaction

I've had shin splints and bad shoes that left my lower leg tingling before, but never anything as extreme as what you seem to have. Do you have shin splints or any other pain associated with your basketball games?

I dont think that being out of shape would cause you to not be able to move your foot...thats an issue outside of not having exercised in quite some time. Let us know what happens with doc.

Yeah, it could be circulatory.....I have read it could be like a B12 deficiency or early signs of Type 2 diabetes...etc....

Ugh, I just hope it is a nerve issue...or something simple.

I don't think it is either diabetes or B12 deficiency. Those are possibilities but quite unlikely. It sounds very much like a nerve issue. Does it hurt or is it just numb?

depends on how out of shape you are on the Out of Shape Scale:

If you're a 1-3, it's probably a vitamin problem, if you're like a 4-6, you just too fat man, gotta get back in shape.

If he looks like image #3 then I would have to say he is a penis.
