He doesn't have a clue to his abilities based on his conditioning. Under normal conditions where all NBA players had a full time of vacation, training camp, and recovery and they are playing at their best Cousins might not be in the league anymore. There's just less incentive for the bottom paid G- League Dwellers, journey men and etc to fight for a roster spot. They would rather take care of family issues during the pandemic.

I don't really get why the Rockets would falsely claim Cousins didn't want to be a mentor / backup. Connect the dots for me.

To make themselves look better just in case it works out with another team and not the Rockets.

So there is no fall out or criticism for being unable to trade him and then releasing him.

There is a very clear pattern since Tilman Fertitta has bought the Rockets.

FWIW Cousins immediately got on twitter and said it was 100% false......... also the idea that Cousins not wanting to back up or mentor is inconsistent with what Silas said only a day or two earlier when discussing the release of Cousins.

The Rockets front office stabs their former employees in the back.... typically setting it up by saying something some what positive, and then as soon as they are out of town, the spin control stories come out trashing the former employees.

I don't care if Cousins is good or bad. I don't have a problem with the Rockets trying to trade him and then releasing him. While it is eye roll worthy, I don't even have a problem with the Rockets brass saying how wonderful they are for guaranteeing his contract. I have a problem with the organization saying or alluding to one thing publicly and then using the media to rip former employees and in some cases for things that I know are not factually accurate.

Doing that isn't going to get the Rockets anywhere, and Tilman Fertitta can think that is standard operating procedure, and God bless him as he has made far more money than I have.... but I do know, that long term nothing positive will come out of operating an NBA team and using the media to bash former employees.

I guess I was operating on the assumption that Cousins was clearly washed up and most everyone recognizes that, except maybe him.

Sure but we all thought Melo was washed too, someone picked him up and the Rockets got blasted(even though he’s not really a good player for them.)This leak seems like it’s just the FO covering their asses just in case it works out with another team and honestly just for signing him in the first place.

    Health is always a factor.
And we haven't seen this team in the playoffs yet to say otherwise, but they were 7-6 before trading for Harden....

Now they're on track to get the 1 seed with Harden leading the most efficient offense in NBA history... With KD missing a ton of games and Kyrie missing a game a week.

Nothing was going to change that except the Rockets trading him to the Sixers

It’s still weak that he went to a stacked team

that’s why when some newbs say that he was close to Dream, he was not

The Jordans, Magic, Bird , Dreams and even Kobes don’t exist now

Harden found it’s very hard to do it through the regular and post seasons being the man

Well most players aren't Dream... As he's #3 all time in my book....

Dream also didn't win a ship in this super team era.. He didn't have to beat a team as loaded as the Warriors to win a ship....

The Bird's, MJs, Magics, and Kobe's all had better teams and surrounding talent than Harden did in his tenure here... This is unquestionable... In fact... It's likely they had the most talented teams in the NBA.

Harden NEVER had the most talented team in the NBA here.... Nowhere close.
