Thanks for (most) of the input. I am feeling better today. Although, I do like some of the suggestions in this post the best. You guys that said that he is good on the day to day stuff are right. He is caring overall and I should be grateful for that. And yes, he is a good father and is off with my son ensuring that he has a good role model and example to live up to.

Sometimes, for me anyway, it just helps to vent. So thanks for giving me a chance to see some of your viewpoints. I probably wouldn't have posted this if I hadn't been reading the cheating thread. Offseason just needs some soap opera time.

BTW, I was looking for the thread about dorm rooms at A&M, but couldn't find it. Does anyone remember who the OP of that thread was? My son just got his dorm assignment and I was curious to know where the OP ended up.

I would still talk to him, but as a husband and father (who also goes on these cub scout deals), here is to hoping he has something up his sleeve and special planned for when he gets back.

Some times we are oblivious but I have found that a good rule of thumb is to see how the woman treats holidays etc, that will tell you how she wants to be treated as well.

What's really misogynistic is that my first though when i read that was "well...some of 'em ain't"

...not really but i always seem to have to defend rap when no one else is. That deplorable attitude is directed towards the women who are the materialisty, money chasing, hoars of the world. Some women don't deserve respect just like some men don't. Many of the older rappers have fairly normal relationships with their wives or longterm girlfriends. Alot of the stuff they put in songs is meant to tell a story of how they once were.

If it helps any, .... today's my birthday and not many people have wished me one so far.

I'm thinking though, everyone just hasn't woken up yet. They'll flood in any minute now :)

In this situation I have to say that it really looks like the glass is half empty.

The ****? People who enjoy rap music are not the only people who degrade women, wtf does rap have to do with this. People blame rap music for every single problem smh.

Its not that the rap music is the whole problem, its the impression it gives to young guys that women are not worth ****.

I used to be a big fan of rap at the high school age and yeah its cool to listen to eminem talk about killing his wife and hating his mom.

but really you get a little older and realize how childish all of it is.

plus 99% of the music now is overproduced recycled bull**** and only a few artists out there dare to buck the trend.

RAP MUSIC IS... the cause of all the world's problems?

not by a long shot, but it certainly doesn't help.

It's people that don't listen to music who still think women are not worth ****. It just depends on the person. I'm young but I listen to much of the old stuff and it doesn't influence me I just like the music. If I think a woman is not worth **** it is because she gave me a reason to think that.

Kick him in the nuts and laugh at his painful outcry. Then afterwards tell him how you really feel.

You're right, on almost all accounts. I made a thread about this a while back. Rap is in serious trouble but i feel like there's is no one culprit for its downfall. There is no variety anymore. There has always been Soulja Boys and Snoop Doggs but that didn't used to be all of it. And sure, alot of it is juvenile but i can say the same for some other popular music.

The main thing is that with rap you have to find something you can identify with and then it won't sound so trivial. It hurts rap more that there are little suburban kids buying up copies of (insert gangsta rapper) than anything else because then he is getting filthy rich, then other good rappers aren't getting shine, then more rappers try to be like (insert gangsta rapper). If people would only buy what they really like and not what all the chicks are dancin' to then things would be different.

When the art is bad, blame the artist not the art form. Ok, i'm done, i gotta protect myself...cause i am hip hop. :D

    Sure.

Theres a lot of hicks out there too that think a woman's place is barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, and if the b**** gets out of line, a backhand to the face will put her in her place.

All I'm saying is rap music in general portrays women in a negative light, like they are only around for ****ing and leaving, and most of them chickenheads and gold-diggers.

there is truth and then there is overkill, and most of the rap songs I hear these days are just gutter filth like "superman that ho" or some horse**** like that. the Pimp lifestyle is glorified as "cool"

You know a lot of them don't really hate women that way, especially since most of them love their mothers.

The only good rap music these days comes from Jurassic 5. It is more underground than most of what's on the radio, but it's creative, intelligent, original, and has a more positive message, even making of fun of the aspects of rap music being discussed in this thread.

anybody who truly like rap music at one time and now doesn't is just being lazy. You can find what you want, if you look for it. Its like those fake lesbians who liked men and then jumped ship because all the guys they've dated lately have been d-bags.

Anyway, this is some serious thread theft. We should stop or someone could just search the "what's killing rap" thread.

There are more than a few groups out there that make some thought-provoking more poetic sounding rap.

Opio from hieroglyphics just released a solo album, I was listening to it on his myspace. pretty good stuff. intelligent rap. poetic stuff.

    that = some nice stuff.

not money b****es hoes sellin' crack lil weezy dj noisy bubble gum b2k chris brown girl u know its true milli vanilli soundin BS.

I couldn't agree more.. my sentiments exactly.. this precisely what I'm always going on about..

because from my experience.. it's usually the woman.. that hides behind that belief.. that phrase.. to avoid doing her part in a relationship.. and/or to excuse behavior that is anything but conducive to that of what is considered an "intelligent being"..

I thought that was a Ben Folds song meant for suburban white boys.
