It's only just begun. Those party towns will be spreadfests, amongst the local bars, shops, and restaurants.
Been back at school 2 weeks only 2 confirmed cases and kids are still wearing mask but they are not continuing to social distance and they keep lowering mask below nose. Overall its going pretty good surprised Kids are doing so well. Fingers crossed.
I made a dangerous mistake and asked one class "How's it going, with the virus and all?" If it was in-person, I might lose my job for that. From the students' responses, the virus is spreading freely exactly the way we would have thought. One out of 18 had just caught it, one had already had it, and many people said they had people near them who were positive.
Bunch of links at the below link about colleges reopening and the struggles: https://www.wbur.org/onpoint/2020/09/03/how-college-reopening-and-closing-works
of course some college kids will get covid. That's not surprising in any way. Any their chances of limited to no symptoms are also extremely high. Protect the vulnerable. That's the key.
i dont understand. how can you lose your job for asking a simple question about a deadly disease. probably im missing something here
If we were in the classroom, and I said "How are things going, with the virus and all?" and one student said "I tested positive on Monday" (which is what someone said), then I could be toast. If a second student then said "OMG! I've been exposed!" and "caused a panic," then I would be fired for disclosing COVID-positives in the classroom. By the way, there was another student who said "I already had it." Even he could get me fired if other people got scared because of my question.
