the diet definitely helps. ever since i switched my lab to raw foods i've hardly ever had to use the furminator. his coat is soft and he hardly has that doggy smell. but if you want to go through an easier route, add some fish oil or diatomaceous earth to his diet. both definitely help with coat.

I couldn't agree more regarding the Furminator. It will get the fleas too.

To actually get rid of fleas. First bomb you house. If they are in the house, you need to exterminate them.

Deflea your dogs while bombing the house.

Next, do your yard. Buy some beneficial nematodes to spray on your yard. Completely organic way of getting fleas out of your yard. They will seek out and kill fleas. They will not die until there are no more fleas or other bugs. Then they die away.

Check garden stores if you can't find in a pet store or vet. Some chain pet stores don't sell any, because their suppliers of the toxic brands make them take it off the shelves. bastids.

I've been doing some research on beneficial nematodes recently- they're good for pretty much all pests in the yard...fleas, ticks, ants, termites, grubs. Great for a good lawn.
