What a sweet looking dog...I am glad he and your wife are okay. I would be very upset. Hope you get the lady to pay for your medical bills.
I feel bad for your dog, and for you if you have to foot the bill. I feel bad for the woman if she has to foot the bill as well. I'm not surprised that someone would leave a window down for a dog in the summer when it is like an oven in your vehicle. Assuming everything to be true about the woman and the rottweiler, than I probably find the shelter to be the most responsible. They had to have known the dog was aggressive towards other dogs before the woman adopted it. To me it mostly sounds like an unfortunate accident. It happens. I can remember a rottweiler belonging to my friend that got loose and started attacking my dog. Fortunately I got my dog away from him before he really got hurt. Legally speaking you could probably find both parties responsible.
I know there is a lot who do, but I don't try to blame the breed. I've had several dogs and some have been from those "breeds" but the dogs we've had are the sweetest ones you could ever meet. Take for example, Toshi (our chow) was the best dog in the world. He was never mean. He never bit at anyone. He was never hostile. The second is a pit bull, Deacon, who loves to be petted. He's sweet and funny. His only problem is he's so lanky and large that when he plays with my son or my mother's little dogs he knocks them over. But he means no harm. I've had run ins with dogs of all types. Don't blame the breed, blame the environment.
Good job saving your dog's life. Usually in these stories, the dog dies despite everything the owner does to try to break it up. Fighting a rottweiler isn't an easy thing to do.
dude my dog looks EXACTLY the same, but its a mini poodle. I don't know too much about dogs, but your dog looks 100% identical. And it is extremely ironic because I was taking him out for a walk last week and two huge dogs came running at him and started attacking him. I've never seen him so scared in my life. I started kicking them and picked him up, a few bites or scratches on me was a small price to pay for his life. Its amazing how many dogs there are that owners don't keep on a leash and it pisses the **** out of me. If anything happened to my dog I don't know what I would have done.
Def agree with this. That's why there are sooo many dogs that have behavioral problems stemming from their environment (lack of discipline, lack of structure and lack of exercise from their owners) I hate hate that the owners think they can just dump a dog at a shelter because they can't handle them. My boxer dog is going through adolescence period and at the beginning, it was tough on me but with training and exercise, he has gotten a lot of better now. He still is a michevious puppy but I am able to handle him now. We paid $$ for his training but its a lot of better than paying for someone's medical bills. Boxers are categorized in one of the dangerous breeds. Bo's the sweetest dog ever and not aggressive towards dogs. Everyone loves him. So all this crap about breeds are not 100% true.
You can certainly get "damages" and other costs. This would be a proper "pain and suffering" case. I think this here lady can help you get your money back, sir: Spoiler Not kiddin' either. LOL! I've never read anyone call someone "fool" so plainly and directly. I know it's not a laughing matter, but you reminded me of this here cartoon:
Good job quoting that entire post.... Glad your dog is okay. Same thing happened to our neighbors dog in Galveston. A rottweiler (surprise...) attacked him and his dog while walking along the beach.
I honestly think you should man up, and not put the pressure on the lady to pay for it. I know its frustrating, but she got the dog and unbenounced to her it was aggressive. I think its funny that you think that something as simple and unknowing as a window being down is worth being a dick over and putting financial stress on someone. Reality is you brought your dog somewhere, where there is other dogs, and ANIMALS ARE ANIMALS. What the dog did was more natural than dogs being house trained, it attacked another dog it felt threatened by. I think that you would be making much more of a positive impact if you didn't put that financial stress on someone. This is whats wrong with the world today, when something bad happens we automatically fault someone else, other than ourselves, or the natural ordinance of things. IF you continue to pursue some sort of financial gain, you're not only more than likely low on funds you're also a douche bag.
How in the hell do you think that this man should blame himself? I'm thinking his dog was on a leash and in his control. I'm thinking his dog wasn't acting aggressively or chomping at the bit. If I'm standing outside in my yard and someone runs me over with a car, it must be my fault because I'm standing outside.
So sorry, London's Burning. Glad your wife and you were able to be so brave and save your dog's life. Sue her to hell. People who let dangerous dogs off-leash or in any other way able to harm people or other animals shouldn't just be sued, they should be in jail.
Dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years, so I don't consider them wild animals. Somebody has to pay the bills. Would you rather pay or have someone else pay?
EDIT: Why just look at London's Burning's dog's face...!!! Spoiler Heck, I'm threatened right now!!!!! I might just sue him!!! So... can some cop just come and arrest you... without a reason... and throw you in jail...? I mean, COPS ARE COPS. By the way, can some clown come and just throw a pie on your face? I mean... CLOWNS ARE CLOWNS. Reality is you put your face in front of the pie...
God, what a horrible post. I sincerely hope you don't own any pets. You have a really screwed up take on the responsibilities of pet owners and probably on a lot of other things as well.
Where did I say that it was his fault? I meant that they're dogs, and often they attack each other. They doesn't mean we have to attack each other's finances does it?
Fool you didn't even read the story, the lady didn't only not own the dog she was on her way to returning it. All I'm saying is he should give her a break. How does this reflect on my responsibilities as a pet owner? Because I expect pets to get hurt, and wouldn't rely on other people's wallets to pay for my pets? I have 2 dogs and I also have pet insurance so I'm ready for any injury occurs to my dog. I would not be depending on another's money who wasn't completely at fault. Maybe this guy should get some.
