No idea how true this is, but it makes sense:

English words for livestock (cow, sheep, chicken) are Germanic-based and the words for meats (beef, mutton, poultry) are French-based. This is because the people who raised the animals were Anglo-Saxon peasants and the people who ate them were Norman aristocrats.

It’s super true. Vikings raided the eff out of those places. Dublin is actually a Viking settlement.

Does "super true" mean that it's more than true?

Like how "infamous" means "more than famous"?

I had this sent to me today on the anniversary of the first edition of the Guiness Book of World Records being released back in 1955. Guiness, the brewing/beer company is the same Guiness as the book of world records. It was first published in Great Britain and was all started by a guy named... Hugh Beaver to settle bar arguments.

For how much I love Ireland and the Irish what they call “bacon” is horrible. I would rather eat the black pudding (secret ingredient blood) than Irish bacon.

I blame the English and strongly suspect that the English forced soggy rubbery strips of cured meat on the rest of the British Isles.

For that matter they forced it on other parts of the British empire and even in Singapore they call that “bacon”.

    Dude,
We just got back a few weeks ago.
My wife is a dual citizen.
she took the following with us on our trip
1 pound of land o lakes butter, because she hates Kerrygold.
2 packages of Oscar Meyer Center cut Bacon
    2 vape pins
    and 20 TCH gummies.

My wife used to spend every summer back in Tralee as a youth. Her parents packed 4 jars of Jim creamy peanut butter because she hated all food Irish.

While I hate Irish “bacon” I love Kerrygold and it’s superior to any mass produced butter in the US. Honestly your wife is the first person I’ve heard not like Kerrygold.

I’ve heard from several Europeans that you can’t get good peanut butter in Europe. A German friend of my family would bring US peanut butter back with her to Germany.

Also curious how your wife gets THC gummies into Ireland. I had heard that THC products aren’t legal in Ireland. Hope you don’t get searched next time.

They aren't, she puts them in a jar with her gummy vitamins. And, she just does carry on with her vapes,
From taking with folks in town. They are more worried about cocaine coming in from the East coast of Ireland.

I was leaving Shannon Airport upon arrival, and there was a dog and a Garda agent at the exit from baggage, and I had my wife's carry on while she used the restroom. I got immediately pulled out of line and thought I was going to the "Midnight Express" prison.
I got pulled out of line because we had purchased smokes for the family that liked American Marlboro smokes from the duty free in JFK.
I had 4 cartons and she said i was over the limit, but than my wife, niece, and nephew showed up and she said i was all good.

I love a trad Irish breakfast, but my wife won't even sit at the table with me while i eat beans and black pudding.
She is straight Steak and potatoes kind of gal. As someone who is a certified chef, and in the dining industry, its tough for me to fathom.
I love most all food except salmon and liver.
