the anderson deal is not, repeat IS NOT a done deal.

he is still mulling over going to portland. he is in san antonio with his agent since yesterday, but no signing has occurred as of yet, except for 8 MILLION DOLLARS FOR AVERY JOHNSON, and antonio daniels.

that said, if san antonio doesn't get anderson, they are in a pickle. that's 2 positions (sg & sf) with no definite answers. they'll need a good shooter and a decent shot creator.

also, of the 14 people under contract in san ant., 9 are guards. and all but antonio are pretty pathetic. san antonio has a little tweaking to do if they want to beat la.

if, however, they were to manage to find a decent 2 &/or 3, they could destroy - and i do mean DESTROY - the lakers.

TheFreak: let's really not get into what good centers can do against the Suns. What did Shaq average against them?

    Besides, his team still lost.

Almu, I am surprised you a mitchy didnt talk about Jordan because over the years you guys have definetly over did it with your statements on MJ. From one Jordan jocker to another you guys should have hit it off well.
Mitch Lawerence is the typical media bonehead, He has no knowledge of the game and his opinions are based on the teams he likes not facts. If I ever met the sob I would give him a piece of my mind about how biased he was for the media hyped Bulls over the years.

haven -- who cares what Shaq could do against the Suns. Your whole argument was that Robinson wasn't effective anymore. I think I've proven that is way off base. DR is just as effective as Bryant is.

Out of any team in the league, the Spurs are undoubtedly the team that gives the Lakers the most problems. In fact, had Duncan been healthy last year, I think last year's script could have easily been entirely different.

Of course, SanAn still has some holes. With D.Anderson on board (or when he is), he soldifies their situation very much so. I haven't seen a whole lot of him, but I do know he's an athletic swingman who adds much needed versatality and youth to the Spurs. If he can play anywhere near like the Elliot of '95-'99, then the Spurs are in business. Elliot himself is a question mark, but for perhaps the first time in 5 years he isn't the only true slasher on the team, and he might perform better with less pressure. That is, if he plays this season.

But like you guys mentioned, Duncan and Robinson will give and have given Shaq nightmares. Perhaps they have extra motivation for his idiotic comments blasting them two years ago? I think Shaq effectively found their mean streak. Just like Stoudamire found one in AJ. If the lakers line-up for next season is the same as last season, SanAn should not have much problem taking care of them. However, if they get PJ Brown, it will be a much closer matchup. Shaq could guard the Admiral, and while PJ would not stop TD, his height and his defensive ability would make Duncan work that much harder to score. Brown a'int no offensive threat, but he can hit the 15 footer if both DR and TD decide to double Shaq.

Just a few questions on the Spurs. Whats up with Porter, Ellie, J.Jackson and Kerr? Are they all coming back next year? I believe the Spurs can and will beat the Lakers next season, but that doesn't mean they will be champions.

    brahma rocket,

Robinson was the MVP in 95', and we saw what that meant.

I don't know if you were joking or not, but I hope so. [IMG]

No! You guys are all wrong the Pacers gave the Lakers the most problems last year. The Pacers beat the hell out of the Lakers in gm 5 by 33 points forget about that? The Pacers were cheated in gms 4 and 6 by some questionable and shiesty officials. The only game the lakers out played the pacers was game 1. Every other game the Pacers clearly out played the lakers and if the there was not such a preferential treatment for the Lakers the Pacers would have won the NBC Bob Costas title.
