I havent been to C-Center since Stockton hit the final shot to wax our asses out of the playoffs, and Ive noticed quite a few changes. 1. This place is dead anyways...... No line to piss, no line for beer and pretzels...... I guess thats a good and bad thing (no crowd) 2. Paying $13.00 for upper prom tickets gets you prime seats in the lower level 6 rows up from the T-wolves bench. We just walked are asses down there. 3. The crowd hates to stand up and cheer. Why? see #4 4. Im yealling my head off.....getting up and cheering when I see Mobley slam or a clutch 3 pointer, and this bitter, pissed old man tells me to "sit down so we can see the game" ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? I almost b**** slapped the old man after we got into it for a few minutes. I had support from my buddy and a few other nearby fans..... they thought it was ridiculous the old man was telling me that. 5. Bud Light and Miller Light??? Give me a break..... We need beer with balls... 6. The Rocket dancers wore freakin' pants the WHOLE GAME!!!! It was hard to tell if they had good bodies.... 7. Clutch the Bear blows. What a dumb mascot..... Why not dump the bear and just showcase Turbo?? At least he can flip and dunk and stuff. DD
I was also at the game, and I guess I had a different experience. That had to be the funnest Rockets game I've been to in a LONG time. Ya, I'll admit the place was dead, but I guess my "section" made it fun as hell. We had nothing but rocket supports for a good 3 straight rows (wow, huh?) and cheered and yelled the whole game. There was a Wolves fan at the very bottom of the row, going crazy at everything the Wolves did good. I was waiting for a fan to get into it with him, and it almost came to that. The point is there still are Rocket fans that go to the game and cheer for them no matter what. Rockets down by 10? Cheer louder, get a run going. The Mobley slam at the end set it off though, we all went crazy. As for the other sections and fans, I'm not sure of, but atleast I know I sat with true Rockets fans which made the game much more enojoyable. True rocket fans dont come to the game in suits to talk business or treat a client. They come to lose their voice screaming at the refs and cheering for the rockets. -LTF
Attention everyone that lives in Houston: There is this team called the Rockets that plays over in Greenway Plaza...I hear that they're pretty fun to watch...
So you did not get stopped whatsoever? I am planning to go to the Mavs game on the 17th and thinking bout doing this. I tried in the past but those damn ushers right when u entered the door in the lower proms was asking for my tix already, and I just wanted to look.
In the past, the Rockets could draw more than 9500... Maybe, we could pipe in crowd noise like the NJ Nets used to do
Actually I have been to at least one game every year for the past 3 years (since I started driving). Unfortunatly, everytime i go they lose .
Amen. My thought exactly. During the first game I was able to move down to floor level courtside about 10 rows up. If you just act like you know where your going the ushers will not ask you for your tickets. Give us beer we can taste, girls in as little clothing as possible, and kill of Clutch and his midget little friend!
Exactly.... I couldnt speak at all after the game from the sweet plays we made (dunks and 3's) ............ Oh yeah and from yelling at that bitter ass old man. The dude was telling me to "Get off Cato's back" (I was yelling "Step up Cato!"). I told him: "Once he starts playing with some balls and earns his paycheck I will."
Ok now you get me started first of all I am a Rocket season tickets holder section 237 row P seat 6 and 7 seat right in front of me is slightly higher..haha why no clue. Anyhow I go to every rockets game have not missed one yet I find that the fans who sit behind the baskets look so dead and droned. Theirs more noise coming from the upper prom areas than most of the lower prom and floor..... Last night I sat in section 102 and I was deeply dissapointed at the fan support when the wolves would shoot a free throw. Here i am standing up yelling and waving my hands and not one person followed. Bottom line is I blame the front office people and all the rockets staff who put together the agenda for every game. The half time shows stink. The same routines put on by clutch and turbo are getting boring. The total lack of attention the staff gives to the upper prom area is poor. Those fans pay too and should be treated the same. I blame the management for the lack of fan support. I like my rockets and support the TEAM but i do not support the people who are in charge of the games agenda. But I still attend because im a DIE HARD FAN!
season ticket holder for 10 years and running! I make about 25-30 games a year (every playoff game when applicable). the 10 or so I miss are given to those who will attend the game and root enthusiastically. This year we worked our way from upper corner seats to lower baseline (our descent into the corporate round is in the direct relation to our climb up the corporate ladder--kinda poetic). I can tell you that fan enthusiasm in the lower is dramatically less compare to the uppers. It blows me away how someone could sit there during an 8 point run ending with a high-flying alley oop! but, they do. I get strange looks when I rise out of my seat during the player introduction and even during a Francis to Mobley alley oop dunk! I wish I had the fans from the uppers in my section! It is very corporatey (is that a word?). I understand that tix are very expensive (costs us 200 bones when it is all said and done). This price is equivalent to attending Cirque de Solei or front row at the Kiss concert every week, sometimes three times a week! But, despite the price or the free corporate tickets, you still have to be excited about being there. Why attend to sit on your hands? Sporting events are meant to be a release of energy. Sporting events are meant to excite you. Why go, even if the tickets are free, if you are not going to support the home team, actually any team? I guess what I am saying is the only way the house will rock again, especially at these prices, is if the rox win. Nowadays, professional sporting event attendance is, unfortunately, tied to how well you do in the playoffs. I dare say that the Mavs were not attracting a large walkup gate when they were not in the playoffs. If there are any upper fans that wanna move down, there are plenty of open seats, especially on the corners. During this time of low attendance, remember to follow the rules of Seat Piracy... 1) Wait until the beginning of the second quarter to "pirate" a seat. 2) Be curteous and apoligize for taking someone's seats if they show up, no matter what quarter. However, I dare say that the section ticket holders should chastise anyone that shows up after the first quarter without a valid excuse! 3) So, you do not cause that much of a disturbance during the game, always be aware of backup seats around you should you get booted from your pirated seat. 4) Try to remove yourself from the seat before you have to be requested to. 5) Always wait until a timeout to come into or leave the section. 6) Make sure you have proper hygiene when you pirate seats. There is nothing worse than sitting next to someone who smells bad or has other issues, no matter a regular ticket holder or a seat pirate. It is marginally worse when someone is sitting next to you that does not own the seat! 7) Pirates should only root for the home team. Expect to be booted by our crack security if you root for the visiting team in a pirated seat.

Everything said so far is true... We all know that the Rockets organization reads this site... Have they even considered doing anything about the dead corporate fans in the lower deck? Note how the NBA's emphasis on family friendliness has screwed up the team. Stupid bear running around (funny at first, now just worth of an ), dancers who dance but don't rally the crowd during the game.... Argh, how stupid. When is the next ClutchCity get-together at a game? That's my question. I'll come into town for it as long as it's a weekend game.
Man...what IS up with that? I had the same experience when I went to the season opener. I knew the attendance would be waaaay down judging from the pre-season...but I mean it looked more like 4k people instead of the 9.5 they had officially counted. So anyways to make up for the half empty arena (and to easily cheer with beer in hand) I brought my trusty "rapper" (which is a great promotional item the Rox passed out some time ago -a set of plastic hands that you can flap around which makes a LOT of noise if done correctly) Well, I sit down with the elitist pigs in lower prom...and you wouldnt believe all the looks I was getting from people who were annoyed with my rapping. Whenever they would glare at me...all I could do was glare back and make even more noise. No one said anything to me (which was a wise move on their parts) but I certainly got my fair share of glares from the suits. Its like my enthusiasm was interupting them while they discussed what happened at the office or signed their contracts or whatever it was they were doing at the library...errr I mean Compaq Center. I was disgusted. I promise you that when I attend a game this year...it will be with rapper in hand. When I leave...my voice will be raspy for two days because of me yelling for the team. And if a bitter old man in a business suit tells me to sit down and be quiet...I will probably have to be forcibly removed from the arena...that is if they can muster enough security guards to pull me off of him. You upper prom people who are real fans need to follow the piracy guidelines established above and come join me in the lower level so that Cuttino can hear us yelling "You can do it!"
Phoenix managed to draw 13,586 last night...while Game 7 of the World Series was going on in the same city. Gotta love Houston!
Maybe Jeff can start a new movement... by moving his legs one step at a time until he finds himself at the arena (ba-dom-PISHHHHHn), seriously I'm here all week folks (ps Jeff, I'm kidding, kind of). TheFreak, you'll have to forgive the Suns fans for actually attending their games... like... nature, uh, sucks or something.
That 13K figure is wrong. No way there was 13K people at the game. Maybe they sold 13K. I would say there might have been 7k there.
Hey whats the deal w/ taking cameras into the games? Can you? I never wanted to lose my camera, but I always seem to see people's cameras flashin' away and nobody givin' it no nevermind? so....can I take me some them pictures? I( don't know why I went r****d on this post)
The Phoenix game may have that many tickets SOLD, but the place looked pretty empty. Yeah, you can take cameras to the game... or at least, they used to allow you to do so last year. My brother and sister went, and they got some amazing pictures with some Rockets and Spurs players (all class guys).
Man Drewdog, you did exactly what I did. I had $13.00 tickets at section 204 and moved to about 5 rows up behind the T-wolve's bench. Maybe we saw each other. Did you see three asian guys walk down there at halftime?
Hey RR, were you at the game Sat. night vs. the T-wolves, because someone was saying "You can do it!" like a row in front of me in section 125. Its a SAD state of affairs when grumpy, bitter, pissed old men tell you to be quiet and sit down from CHEERING like the dude did on Saturday night. Man I wanted to b**** slap him!!!!
