got a question for you Codell. In the past when i've had problems i take it to Skeeters Auto off of Huffmeister/Cypress North Houston. They've have to run a full diagnostic test on it to determine the problem but it costs 80 bucks. Are there any other places you know of that are a little lower in price.
I know Skeeters also (I live in Cypress). They are pretty fair. Most shops are going to charge you some type of check out fee, usually 1 hour labor at their posted labor rate (anywhere from $55 to $80/hr.) You might find a shop that will give you a cheaper labor rate ,but they might make up for it by upselling you on the ticket. If I were you, I would pay Skeeters the $80 because they aren't known to do a whole bunch of extra stuff that the car doesn't need. Talk to Clint if you go to Skeeters. He is pretty easy to deal with.
Well i figured i'd bring this back just to let you know what the problem was. The #3 spark plug was stuck inside the engine head. They weren't able to get it out without having to remove something. I don't remember exactly what they removed, but they managed to get it out and there wasn't any damage done to the engine, which was a big sigh of relief The guy i talked to said at the beginning of the day it was gonna cost $800 to $1,000. Fortunately it only was $450 bucks; but they also recommended that i have some other stuff done to the fuel injectors and etc... don't remember everything; was just glad it was about half the price they quoted me earlier. In all it ended up costing approx 600 bucks, i'll be picking it up in the morning good as new
Always nice to get a final bill that's lower than the original estimate. Usually happens the other way.
I have a problem too. My F150, 2002, had the service engine soon light come on. Damnit. I am going to have to take it to the dealership when I get back to Houston. Well, about 700 more miles of driving and I will be home!
If the other driver is a reasonable person, and you can work out a deal with him/her, then you should be able to avoid going through the insurance company. What you have to do is call him up and tell him that you would prefer to pay for the damages out of pocket without going through insurance. Ask him for an official estimate for the work or the repair bill. Then, just pay him the required amount. If he's a prick, or if you wait too late to contact him, he may go through the insurance company, in which case you'd be screwed.
