Sorry, somehow when I read : "I don't want Chris Paul....." "I think Aaron Brooks fits this style better than Paul......" "I know Paul is a better player, but he needs the ball all the time and honestly Brooks outplays him...." somehow I didn't interpret that as "I'd take Paul"
The other factor with CP3 is that there is the possibility that he requests a trade forcing the Hornets hand if they keep losing. It's still a long shot, as it assumes that no other team in the league could offer a better deal.
Read more - and stop choosing bits and pieces, I was trying to say we have more pressing needs than PG......and that we can win fine with AB...... But not with the current WINGS.....unless Cbud develops real fast. I like CP3, he is a great player, but if you take AB and switch him with CP3, we are still not upgrading as much as getting a quality wing would.... Just prioritizing that's all... Oh, that and I think CP3 is a punk.......anyone that intentionally hits another player in the nuts on purpose is not someone I would desperatly seek to be on the team. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9F3tptzEWmM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9F3tptzEWmM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> DD
Yes. In fact if you read that Simmon's article that I linked to he addressed that. His contention is that NO can't trade West for financial reasons. If they do he says Paul would likely demand a trade. All-in-all it's a tough situation for NO. Really you'd like to see them find a way out and not have to guy their team. Of course, if worst comes to worst, them I'd like the Rockets to be the team that benefits from it. Here's more of Simmon's take on NO situation: Mitigating Factor No. 1: Trading CP3 effectively murders basketball in New Orleans UNLESS it's a good enough deal. And even then, it's an attempted murder with a severe loss of blood. • Mitigating Factor No. 2: They can't use West to solve their tax issues because Paul would immediately demand out. For instance, let's say Houston offered them Shane Battier, $3 million and the Brian Cook/Chuck Hayes ECs for West, Peterson and Ike Diogu's EC. The Hornets would save $3.2 million in salary, $3.2 million in tax money, then earn another $3 million from the extra cash this season. Next season, they'd save another $7 million in salary and $5-7 million in tax money. On top of that, they'd be eligible for tax benefits as an under-the-tax team. Adding everything up, that trade would save them more than $22 million. But what's the collateral damage? Chris Paul says, "Get me out of here." So they couldn't go there unless they were ready to move Paul as well. • Mitigating Factor No. 3: New Orleans has no way to really improve until the summer of 2011. Won't Paul eventually flee, anyway? What about the persistent rumor that LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Kobe and Paul made a pact in Athens to play together someday, with the first three joining forces in 2010 and the other two coming in 2012? What about the fact that I just made that rumor up and you believed it? Isn't the Internet great?
Ok, here's the entire post that I replied to: I don't want Chris Paul..... I think Aaron Brooks fits this style better than Paul...... I know Paul is a better player, but he needs the ball all the time and honestly Brooks outplays him.... I would rather keep Brooks as the starter, because he is getting better....will never reach Paul's status, but is not that far off of it....if Paul is a 10, Brooks is a solid 8.... I would rather upgrade positions of need. To me, the best trades are the Redd, KMar, and Randolph/Maggette trades. Any of those 3 appeals to me. That's the entirety, nothing left out. Looking at it as a whole it's the exact same response. That's completely ridiculous that you'd not want to deal for a top 10 player. Still have to say "Micheal Redd...really"? Sorry, but I don't see anything different here that changes my opinion. If possible you make the Paul trade every day of the week. I do fully understand that you backpeddled in subsequent posts but that has nothing to do with my assessment of this post. It's ridiculous whether you look at the high points or in entirety.
The post stands.......I would keep AB, I don't find Paul as a top 10 player..... He is better than AB, but I don't think he is that much of a difference maker in regards to wins and losses compared to AB. The team has greater needs...than that... And I think Paul is a punk..... DD
Ok, then if you don't think that he's a top 10 player AND he's a punk. Then why did your prior post say that you'd do the McGrady/Brooks for Paul deal? I'm getting confused, you first said you wouldn't do the deal, then you would and now this post says you would keep Brooks. Can I wait until you make a final decision before I try to comment further? Are you in favor of trading for Paul or not?
I don't think anyone agrees with you on this....and I mean anyone in the world. CP3 not a top 10 player???? Wow....really.... This is true. But one could argue acquiring a top 10 player, at any position besides center (and even that's debatable), is something you have to do if you can. The truth finally comes out. If you don't want him because you don't like him then that's understandable. But your dislike doesn't change the facts that he is a top 10 player and is clearly a huge upgrade from Brooks. Brooks isn't even the best PG in his own division. Paul is arguably the best one in the world.
I do think he is a punk....and I don't think he is top 10. Here are some I think that are better than him.... 1. Kobe 2. Lebron 3. Wade 4. Bosh 5. Dirk 6. Duncan 7. Nash 8. Anthony 9. Durant 10. Stoudamire 11. Pierce 12. Garnett 13. Howard Just to name some.... DD
I'm just going to say that you're an idiot, DD. Out of those 13 players, name 10 that has had a higher PER than Paul has had in the past 3 seasons.
that's not a bad trade, although i think golden state would want minnie's 2010 1st rounder, and our 1st rounder too. they're giving up a hell of a lot there, practically their entire team.
First, you call someone an idiot then expect them to engage you in conversation. Really....lol. PER...yeah, that is the end all stat. DD
Wow..... I really respect your opinions and enjoy reading your posts, but this is rather disappointing. Nash better than Pau?!? Pierce?!? Garnett (maybe 5 or 6 years ago)?!? Stoudemire (certainly not anymore!)? Wow. You must really have a vendetta against the guy because it is really clouding your judgment. He is a stellar defensive player, one of the best passers in the league, and is great driving to the lane as well as shooting the basketball. He flat out makes his teammates better and would undoubtedly do the same for the Rockets. I hope you are kidding...
Hahah it worked didn't it? So what methods are you using to rank your players, DD? I want to know.
