I would love to see Tmac somehow end up in Miami. It's in Florida, where he is from, and I think he and DWade would get along. Didn't Wade say nice things about Mac last year?
I like it, it gives our roster a TON of balance. You get an offensive and defensive specialist at nearly every position. Lots of post up game, outside shooting and guys that will run. Brooks/Lowry Richardson/Barbosa/Taylor Ariza/Battier/Budinger Scola/Landry Yao/Andersen/Hayes I would do it!
This thread got rated 5 stars just for luring both aelliott and NIKEstrad out from their hiding places for multiple posts. And that's not all. This thread is loaded with contributions from great posters. I've really enjoyed reading about the possibility of Chris Paul. The chances of that happening still seem very slim to me - but it sounds like if Chris Paul were to demand a trade, we're possibly in the best position to make a deal with them. That's great. Here is my question: Portland has two major needs right now. A.) They need to acquire a center B.) They need to trim down their roster some in order to resign many of their young players. It's going to be incredibly difficult for them to keep everybody. This will undoubtedly involve getting rid of a point guard. Bayless is looking fantastic so either Andre Miller or Steve Blake have got to go. Outlaw is also a free agent after this season. I see three teams that might be interested in being rid of a quality center to clear cap space - Golden State (Biedrins), Los Angeles Clippers (Kaman or Camby), and New Orleans (Okafor). Is it possible the Rockets could work out a three team deal involving Portland and one of those teams? Obviously Portland has been interested in Battier for years too. I feel like there are some interesting possibilities here.
They may want some kind of contract assurance but no way would they get it. No team is going to give Tmac a "extension" promise based on the 46 min he has played this year. Plus I dont think there is any team Tmac wouldnt want to go to right now. Clearly he is not going to play here. If he wants a chance to get another contract he has to be moved. If Tmac really thinks he has rehabbed and has anything left in the tank he would take a trade to any team. Even if they are terrible, he only has to finish the year out with them and gets to pick who to sign with next year. What has happened right now is literally the worst thing that could have happened to him scenario wise as far as his future goes.
Yes he did, Hayden, you're right. I also think it would be rather splendid if Tmac somehow ends up back in the Sunshine State. Florida needs more shady people like Tmac to help block out all those harmful UV sun rays.
The examples that a team with a great PG and a very good big man: Stockton + Malone Payton + Kemp Kevin Johnson + Barkley Penny Hardarway + O'Neal Tim Hardarway + Mourning Nash + Stoudemire None of them won championship. I don't recall any great PG won a championship in the last 20 years except Isiah Thomas.
Additionally, houston gets hornets' 2010 top-5 protected 1st round pick, unprotected in 2011. Why New Orleans does this: They save a ton of money on peja and mopete, get a mcgrady who might have something left in the tank, and an above-average, underpaid PF who is serviceable. Yeah, they have to unload david west and their pick, but you can't really argue with saving like 30 million dollars. Why Golden State does this: Randolph is unhappy with Nelson assigning him sporadic playing time. Ellis wanted out earlier in the season. They get a proven star PF in West, and a young stud PG to play next to stephen curry, and they get out of Ellis' contract. Why Houston does this: We get a very good scoring guard in Ellis to replace tmac and take the load off Ariza, and an extremely talented young PF in Randolph. Peja sucks, but he is familiar with Adelman's system and can still play in the role of a spot-up shooter for stretches. Mopete is exiled from the team permanently (bought out lol). We also get the Hornets' 1st rounder. Brooks and Scola are a hefty price, but I think Lowry would be a better starting guard when Yao comes back, and Scola is 30.
time counting down before Tinman chimes in and edumacates you on a friendly extra terrestrial from a land not too far away and not too long ago
None of those combinations are what I specified. Most big men you listed aren't centers and of the centers listed the only one that could be considered a top two center is Shaq. Shaq and Penny were in what their 2nd and 3rd yrs when they went to the finals? Fact is there just haven't been many pairings of superstar PG and Centers in the last 20 years.
Wooooooowwwwww......I must say this is a pretty damn good, well-thought out trade by you. Nice idea man....one of the best proposed trades I've seen thus far (in terms of all teams getting what they want). The 1st round pick though is a must.
Nice trade proposal, Kokopuffs. Very well thought out. It makes sense for everybody involved, assuming Morey considers Anthony Randolph a future stud. + rep.
The last time one can say a championship team had a superstar center and point guard is probably the last time the Spurs won the championship. That's about as close as we're going to get without going back to the Magic/Kareem years.
