Yao can't hold his position and present a good target...... Now, back to your original point......Brooks had no one else to help him or to defer too...with Martin he does. If they don't gel, and he continues to try to take over all the time, then you guys may have a point, but I doubt he does that because when he first took over as PG, the team almost had to beg him to shoot...... He does whatever is necessary to help the team, right now it is shooting and trying to take over, that is a lot to ask of a guy that has 90 games started ..total.... Now with Martin I expect a more share the load responsibility. It will all prove out over time, you guys will see. DD
Lets educate then, point by point. 1. I realize he is our starting PG 2. The princeton Offense really isn's "Ricks" offense now is it. 3. I guess you NEVER griped about Francis and his offensive production then, right? 4. Out played...let me see what 82 games tells me. Oh yeah here are two facts for you. A. The Rockets score more points per 100 possesions with him off the court. And our defensive efficiency as a team goes WAY up with him off the court. B. The average opponents PG takes 4 less shots a game than Brooks, gets more rebounds, more assists, has less turnovers, more blocks, gets to the freethrow line more often, but scores less. Is that what you call clearly outplaying. That he outscores the opposing PG on more shots per game? Oh so in other words he scores more but does pretty much everything else worse. Got it, hows this education coming so far? 5. As I so eloquently gave proof, the Rox are a MUCH poorer team on defense when he is on the court. Way to officially debunk this fact, is it bourne out yet? 6. I guess the longer you watch ball doesn't exactly prove you are right in everything. (pssst, Ive been watching Rox ball since Murphy and Rudy T days too), I mean if you were always right about PGs on the Rockets V Span would be on his 4th MVP with the Rockets so far.
I think there's a small difference between scoring 18ppg on a championship team and do the same thing on a mediocre team. Maybe he's more talented. Parker has a career 49FG%, more assists, less TOs, and better PG skills. But in the world of "Wafer is a potential all-star" maybe Brooks is on the way for being our Parker 2.0., you never know.
Everyone has a different capacity to improve. It would be a fallacy to think that Brooks will improve based on Tony Parker's ability to do the same. I think Brooks has reached his plateau, and the player he is, is the player that he'll be for the rest of his career. I'd like him to prove me wrong of course, for the rockets sake.
Ok... 1) Look how long it to Parker grow and AB is on an accelerated Pace... 2) Last I checked.. Didn't see us with a Duncan or Manu... 3) If Adelman and Morey are pushing Trevor to take more shots... Who's to say they are not counting on AB to carry them. 4) Look at his numbers and not only that, listen to every opposing teams announcer... They fear Brooks almost Kobe like... 5) This is his 1st full year as the starting PG and you guys are judging him like he's been playing the position for 5 to 10 years... Like DD said.... Un-fricken-believable
Your confused DD. You keep making the point that Im blaming Brooks for this or other loses. Not true at all. Im upset with AB as a PG that isn't making progress as a PG. I gave specific instances of what is failing AB on the court. Not how "DaG Yo BrOOks SuXOrs the CoXoRS anD CoSTEd uS thIS GAme"
I remember when they were about to give up on Parker and then all of a sudden the light switch came on... This has been stated on the GARM first... It takes about 5 years for a young player to understand the PG position.. It's the hardest position on the court..
why do i feel you're about to run out of ammunition? ab is a scorer, a very good one. but nothing more. and 1 full season after he starts, he does not seem to have the capability of making progress in other aspects of the game. when he is scoring with efficiency, he is helping his team a great deal. when he is not, he's almost nothing. -- that's all one needs to know about ab. and there are plenty of players of this type in the league. and i thought this thread was not supposed to have anything to do with lowry.
Well, Brooks isn't all that young. He certainly isn't old but Parker was able to start his learning process at a much younger age.
Lol Read the OP. It's not about trading AB, it's about mixing the right players at the right time. Crunch time minutes you either go with KL/AB or KL/KM is what the OP is saying because I don't think AB/KM is a good Combo unless KM handles the ball but it's too early to say.
Well then you are wrong, he has made great strides as a PG. Let's watch how he plays with a quality scoring wing like Martin, I expect his assist totals to go up now that he has someone besides Luis to pass the ball to and make a shot. DD
100% agree! On the other hand, I bet Landry misses Brooks as well. I just watched the kings and Landry didn't get many touches as Tyreke Evans played the PG. What he did was running up and down the court most of the time.
WOW!!!! Six pages deep before someone gets it! Now please spend some time with DD in the education corner and share. I am in no way stating that Kyle should necessarily be the starter. Maybe later if he learns to make his shots fall more consistantly, and get range to the three point line. What I am saying is that a lineup of Brooks, Martin, Ariza mixed with Yao and Scola just isnt going to work. At least not unless some miracle chance that one of the three smalls drastically change their game.
Age wise NO... NBA... YES... Brooks has only been in the league 2.5 years (this year is not over)... and this is his first FULL YEAR as the starting PG. Now take in mind last year he had CRAZY Ron in his ear about every game telling him "pass me the ball". This year he really doesn't have a Big Man and they play a differnt style of offense.. Not the traditional throw it down low offense. So does AB have a lot to learn.. Yes he does, but he's far far far ahead of schedule.
When the Rockets don't have black holes on offense in the rotation, then we can revisit this topic. A starting lineup of Lowry, Martin, Ariza, Scola, and Yao next year does not have enough fire power to compete with the best in the West to start a game. That lineup is no better than the T-mac/Yao teams with Rafer, Juwan, and Battier.
