My Alma Mater is Changing Its Name...Probably

Of course, it could end up in Dallas and not be associated with a University. Clinton's isn't really.

Personally, I think GWB's library will be at Midland College.

wasn't there some movie with a fictitious college team called the Texas State Armadillos? Now that's going to be all inaccurate!

Anyway, SWT? TSU? TSUSM? SWTSUSM? is trying to change its image from the party school we all know and love to a more serious semi-flagship institution. Right now they have a notorious reputation for working their faculty to death, especially in things like science. They expect you to give 100% to your teaching and 100% to your research and, no, I did not make a mathematical mistake there. It's a school in transition... but if they want to sound like Texas Southern University, or The State University for Sadism and Masochism, they can go right ahead...

Yeah, they're called doctors.

 

They have been trying to change the name ever since I went there in 1984.

Texas State University, sounds a lot better to me.
