What about shipping? I don't know if the buyer witll want to use USPS, UPS, or Fedex.... overnight, or standard ground... from TX to OK or TX to NY.... ... so how do I estimate shipping? Or shouldI just say that I will contact buyer about shipping and handling costs? -- droxford
USPS priority or UPS ground seem to be the most popular. I prefer USPS because it is much faster and a few dollars cheaper. However im not sure if you can insure for $750. As for the price look to see what similar sellers are charging. I usually add a dollar or two to the actual cost of shipping to pay for packing materials. I think $10 would be about right. but you dont want to overcharge. I also highly agree with the advice of buying a few cheap things (DVD's?) first. You would get a chance to become more familiar with ebay and paypal before selling something soo expensive.
Hey - thanks for all the suggestions, guys! Things I did to (hopefully) build a good auction: I built the auction using my wife's account (she's bought more stuff than I have) I scheduled the auction to run in prime hours: running 7 days and ending sunday 8:30 pm CST I used a digital cameral to take good pictures, but pics that demonstrate that I possess the software copied the text from the highest-selling similar auction Made it sound personal ('I won this software in a contest' etc. - which is true) Listed it in two categories: one is in PC software, the other is in Mac software Gave it a bold headline and four images Offered full communication Indicated that I'm flexible in payment method and shipping method To view the auction (or buy it?): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3659571411&category=3775 Thanks again to ArtV, boomboom, mrdave543, woofer, AGBee, MR. MEOWGI, and all you other guys that helped me out. A week from now, I'll let you know how it went! -- droxford
droxford, The auction looks great. Good call selling it on your wife's account. She has enough trades that it wont scare the prospective buyer off. I also think you pics you took will help a good deal. You can see the shrik wrap well and you can see that they were taken with product in hand (not stock photos) Best of luck with the final price
Looks good, dr. If I had the money to burn and was interested in something like that, I would have no problem with bidding on that auction.
You guys are the best! Thanks for all the input and help! And, thanks for the 'bid-up' offer, mrdave543. Hopefully, I won't need it -- droxford
