I can't belive he would say that. His insight has really gone down over the years. If you look at his numbers curry is actually down in points and assists. His steals are up and his fg% is pretty much the same which is amazing.
On the espn front page David Thorpe votes Harden and lays out the case in a very intelligent manner (similar to Steve Smith). Unfortunately he doesn't get to vote. I tried to link but failed miserably.
That seems to be a running theme. The guys with the votes like Curry, and aren't even willing to listen to the other side.
It helps a lot that Curry's coach had been an NBA media guy, who must be getting along well still with that circle.
It would be fun to have the media worship the ground Harden walks on, but sadly, Harden is so damn boring to watch! *watches Harden hit another crossover stepback 3*
On that same episode of PTI, they called the Rockets the biggest whiners in the league. Just get used to it. People don't like the Rockets.
So Curry had 12 points (on 33% shooting) and 4 assists, but you're a homer if you acknowledge his sub-par performance because Curry had one great play within that game? That's your threshold for MVP? My, aren't you the objective one.
I don't care that they call Rockets fans whiners, as long as they realize that in this social media era, they can't just throw out whatever they want to say and expect the fans to accept it as truth. I hope they don't forget that some Rockets fans are whiners. Watch out, we are out there!
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/5-on-5-150311/is-russell-westbrook-real-mvp Everyone but the OKC guy thought Westbrook does not deserve MVP then there was also this...
The "Curry has the better team" Argument Sucks on a Individual award Doesn't that put Klay Matthews in the convo for MVP too? Rocket River
Give it to Curry. And have Harden go all Olajuwon on Robinson. It can be argued our second title came as a result of Robinson winning MVP.
I'm not too worried about this award, it's extra burden it seems on the players. I would rather the team go far in the playoffs than worry about this Plus the way Harden is playing, I have no doubt he will be in the conversation for MVP for the next 3-4 years at least, eventually he will win one
I bet 90% of the people who vote do not even watch many Rockets games and just go by what they hear, i.e. that Curry is the one who deserves it most. Basketball people should decide MVP anyways. How did they decide MVP back in the day?
No way to "give it to Curry". If Harden can go Olajuwon on Curry, then Harden could win both MVP and FMVP.
My Twitter feed is full of "ZOMG Curry did a crossover dribble...he is the Goat!" from all the writers employed by ESPN.
Espn smearing harden... Of all his stats for MVP race diagram, they put that he was suspended one game at the top....
He lost it tonight imo, when a player, nay a supposed leader and MVP, is not engaged in a game with this much relevance for the tie-breaker and standings, then what else can you say. Very disappointed, I thought we were passed this with Harden buckling under pressure and shying away from responsibility.
I wouldn't go making rash generalizations because of one game in an otherwise flawless season. He'll go off next game and we'll all be singing his praises. I was disappointed tonight, though. 3 days off against Portland of all teams? I expected more, but it is what it is. Just one game.
A true MVP does not shrink in the 2nd half and more importantly the 4th quarter. Harden had his chance tonight and failed to deliver. When I think of MVP winners over the past decade, they demand and hit the BIG shots. Harden did not look like he facilitated that shot or instilled ferocity in his team. I have no idea why Harden became so passive in the 4th. It does not bode well when the media is taking shots at Harden all the time.
