Don't disagree that we're underestimating the help that James has when it's convenient. But, amongst MVP candidates you can't compare JH's supporting cast with Lebron and Currys. Also agree with you about Westbrook. It pains me, because I'm not a big fan of the guy, the basketball things that he's doing are pretty freaking amazing. He's been the best player in basketball right now and surely the most important player to his team right now.
I agree that Lebron/Curry have a better supporting cast. I still think Harden should be the leader, but its so close that if one of these guys goes on a mini slump they will be out of it.
If we end up with the 2 seed, Harden should be a lock...He has the perfect combination of and MVP narrative, Statistics, and Team Success...None of the other candidates possess all three although Westbrook will be a threat if his team rises up to around the 5 spot in my opinion
haha. wb has had a crazy past few weeks no doubt but no mvp for him. its a season award not based on a crazy stretch run and they don't hand out mvps to bottom seed teams. he's only in the discussion just because. its between curry and harden. that's it. lebron won't be getting it this year either.
He's been absolutely nuts in February and so far in March. Hopefully there's a splinter effect - Westbrook has been the best PG in the league, out flashing Curry. So instead Harden's steady outstanding performances to keep the Rockets thriving is more pronounced.
What's hardens record without Dwight vs Westbrook's without durant? That should settle that conversation.
Take off your glasses Homer. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/U_TUrYZewD0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Nope, he's going to steal it from Steph. What will be interesting is how Westbrook and Lebron affect the real MVP race between Steph and Harden. No one seems to be considering that. I think the Pro-Harden crowd is always going to be pro-harden. They aren't affected by some flashy move Steph does, they believe the MVP award goes to the player most valuable to his team. End of story. Harden will get those votes with a 2-3 seeded Rockets. Curry on the other hand is going to battle against Westbrook for the narrative battle and perhaps Westbrook will steal some votes from Curry...
Neither Steph or CP had a good game. Steph had 12 points 4 assists and 4TO on 33% shooting. Chris had 14 points and 5TO on 41% shooting.
yet the dude made it on yahoo news because of 1 play like 2 games in a row. James will have to average a crazy amount to win the MVP.
Best player on the best team in the league, crazy efficiency, sick handles, ESPN type palys. His team just whooped Harden's Rockets 4-0 (there maybe exceptions but this matters) on National TV. Media favorite and new golden boy. Curry is the overhwelming favorite right now.
First of all, I'll totally own up to being a homer. We're on a Houston Rockets fan message board. Secondly, if all it took to get MVP was a step back 3 after some nifty dribbling, James Harden has that just as much on lock.
FWIW, USA today has James Harden in first place in the MVP race. http://www.usatoday.com/picture-gallery/sports/nba/2014/11/10/2014-15-nba-mvp-and-rookie-of-the-year-weekly-poll/18787113/
Steve Smith: Harden, Curry, Westbrook - 3rd place entire year, no Howard, a lot of changes, a lot of injuries, played through injuries himself. Curry has played well on team with the best record. Russell Westbrook phenomenal. IT: Westbrook, Curry, Harden - Westbrook first because where they started. Doom and gloom at the start and the perseverance to fight. He has done more with less. IT: It reminds when Jordan was the best player and Malone was MVP. It was that - MVP fatigue. People got tired of voting for Jordan. It's like, let's give it to someone else. That's the point James has reached. We always overlook KAJ. No one has arguably had a greater career than him but we give it to Jordan because we got tired of giving it to Kareem. We had KAJ fatigue so we looked for someone else and that's where James is approaching right now.
Wow. I'm assuming IT is Isaih Thomas. Jordan was not given the MVP because people got sick of giving it to Kareem. Still a hater
"Rockets fans need to stop having such a persecution complex. Not everyone is against them." - media Oh really? Spoiler
Mike Wilbon on PTI said yesterday that he will be voting for Curry for MVP. Says he has been the MVP all year long and it's not even close. Maybe Curry does deserve it but to say the race is not even close makes him sound like a dick riding fanboy.
