Watching NBC and Deke's speaking now.
Man I felt so lucky as a Rockets fan that Deke retired in a Rockets Jersey. He was still owning most other centres even at 42.
For me he's a first ballot HOF

Finding a Mutombo replacement will be one of the hardest tasks facing Morey.

Agreed, very lucky. But was he 42 or 52?
    Either way he rocks.

True, in a way, all Rockets fans took Mutumbo for granted. Everytime Yao went out, Mutumbo would always lead us into battle as our leader. He was the heart and soul of our defense the past 5 years.

It's not counsidence that when Mutombo got injured and retired are defense all of a sudden began to become worse.

Jeff Van Gundy's biggest accomplishment was bringing Mutumbo here from New York!

Man I can't tell you how much I miss the finger wag! He reminds me alot of Hakeem in a way.

IMO, he was the closest to Hakeem that the Rockets could ever have.

It's a pipedream, but I always hoped that Mutumbo could rehab and re-sign with the Rockets!

Man, if it wasn't for Greg Olden, Mutumbo would have never got injured!

    I love you Mutumobo!

I met him once and got his autograph. He's a very nice guy and I hope he is in the hall of fame soon. One of my favorite players of all time. [IMG]

Hakeem and Deke are old school and the ultimate professionals. Deke really grew on me while he was here, class act.

JVG, I don't give him many props but for bringing in Deke, he get two thumbs up.

    Not just that.

He is humble like Hakeem and also a great philanthropist like Hakeem.

Speaking of Rockets centers, I just met Zaid Abdul-Aziz at the library I work at. Awesome guy.

Hakeem and Mutombo are the 1-2 in career blocks, and it will be that way for a long time.

Speaking of Rockets being seen on the TV, I saw Shane today on NBA TV being a guess commentary there. I guess he was there to talk about today's playoff games. I didn't get to watch much of it though.

According to his fb page, he is also there tomorrow. Mutombo is a class act, glad he was a Rocket.

yeah I just dont see any people dislike Deke, other teams fans may hate him as a player during a playoff game but always respect him as a person.
We should bring him back for an asst. coach position, He'll hv more connection and do more for his foundation, and our young pfs and centres will be feared around the league because of their elbows.

Mutombo not only had something still left in the tank his last few years, he SAVED both the 2007 and 2008 regular seasons. People will say the team was much worse without McGrady more than Yao Ming, so Yao's effect on the team is less. It should mean Mutombo played that WELL as a fill-in.
