tree: Probably not. But if he isn't at the 13 level, Drob/Dream definitely aren't at the 10 level.

I see your point. Ticket sales is what it's really all about. But aren't those overpriced, too??? This inflation has to stop somewhere - price elasticity demands it. But damn, it's stretching pretty far...

It has to stop. If I'm gonna pay for that guy's $13mil (in the end, we DO pay for it), then he'd better dunk on Shaq at least 3 times a season... And block him once.

IMO, they aren't even at 9. 8 for DRob, 6.5 for Hakeem. IMHO...

Here's the bottomline on market value.

The majority of us posting here would love to have a mint '66 'Vette for $2,000. It ain't gonna happen. The majority of NBA teams would love to have near double-double stats at the 5 for a cheap price. That doesn't (often) happen.

In either case, the laws of supply and demand are in full force. And in each case, the ability of available buyers to pay gets you to the bottomline very quickly.
The previous errors made by teams overpaying Reeves, Ilgauskus, and others is not relevant. There is only one relevancy - who can afford to outright pay $10M to any FA Center this summer?

Here's your list: Chicago, Detroit, Houston, LA Clippers, San Antonio, Toronto, and Washington.

You can eliminate the Clips, and the Raptors have an $11.0M deal on the table for AD.

If Chicago, Detroit, and/or Washington want to pay $10.M for Hakeem Olajuwon and/or David Robinson and they want to play there, then that's their market price. Otherwise, without a S&T, THERE ARE ONLY THOSE 3 in the marketplace at $10.0M.

Ahh, but you say...Gater you forgot about S&T's. Well, yes, I did. I'll leave that ball in your court. But I want you to remember one thing - the teams that paid Geiger $8M and Reeves $11.5M and Tariq Abdul-Wahad about $36M until 2007 want to get rid of a few contracts, too! Did I hear someone say Robinson for Tariq and George McCloud?? Speak up....
