It's not a moot point. If we weren't paying dead weight SF $2mil then we could pay Deke his $2mil.

Neither would play big minutes unless others in front of them are hurt but I'd rather have a legit big than SF who appears to be done.

We can pay Deke his money. Les is just too cheap to go over the cap. He'd rather turn a bigger profit than cover all his bases, and that's right as owner, but let's not act like the luxury tax would make him start clipping coupons or something.

But if you insist on splitting hairs about the payroll, at least start at the top with our $40 million "superstars."

Maybe you're right. It's probably just a coincidence that the income has doubled since Yao got here.

No, I just wanted the actual dollar amount. Plus the entire Rockets fiscal numbers, business and operations. Still waiting.

I concede. You are right. Signing Dikembe Mutombo would send the Rockets spiraling into a deficit they could never recover from. Kudos to Leslie for dodging that bullet.

    Are you sure?

Let's number crunch the Rockets fiscal numbers which you obviously have and holding back from the rest of us, then we can actually pass judgement on Les on how he should run his business with his money.

If Deke signs with the Celtics the rest of the league will eventually regret it, especially the Lakers if they meet up again in the Finals. Mark my words....

I think someone just shot over Chuck again. Fortunetly Deke blocked it......from his apartment.

Do you see the chinese ads at the toyota center? Do you know why they are in chinese?

They outbid the highest americans. This is profit directly due to Yao.

since when did sports franchises bring in much income? the owners make money when they sell. plus they like being owners. secondly if you really think, yao being here doesn't help the team much, remove your head from the place its in.

yes yao's jerseys selling in china doesn't help the rockets directly. but that doesn't mean he's not the reason that a) we're a legit team b) the team gets additional revenue due to him being superman in china and c) all of that helps franchise valuation which adds to leslie's net worth.

e.g. toyota bought the rights in part because of the chinese automarket. but im sorry i don't have the internal memo from toyota that talked about how much additional quantifiable potential revenue they may get from more people buying toyotas in china due to yao being from there and the stadium being named for the company.

also if leslie is oh so concerned about a half season pro-rated 1.5 mil plus the luxury tax making it probably a total of 1.5 mil, he shouldn't be in the sports franchise business.

****s in Morey/ Les' heads, if you don't want to spend money on Deke, then at least get a legit back up C, the 6'6 Hayes playing as C is a joke

That's the first correct thing you've said on this board in a long time.

I'm stooping down to your level then...

I just wanted hard actual numbers, you got them? Please post and link if you do.

That's incorrect. Toyota chose San Antonio to build a manufacturing plant which Houston was also bidding on. As a consolation for not choosing Houston, Toyota bought the naming rights to the downtown basketball arena.

You do realize Toyota is a Japanese company and Yao is chinese, right? 2 countries that despise each other.

I'm willing to bet he doesn't give a rat's ass what you think on how he should run his business. If he ever reads your comment I bet he laughs that Les laugh and says "At least I'm not you."

If a younger player put up the numbers Deke does he'd easily get a MLE or higher deal. Deke is a moneyball type player.

So, he's not worth 1/10 of what Yao's making and he played at least as well in that streak not to mention season before?!
