You can't judge AB by game 5, it should be an incomplete. If you have to find something consistent, it's that he plays great when he hits his outside 3s, not so if he doesn't. Looking to score comes naturally to him, getting up his teammates doesn't.

What about Ron? He has been so bad that Morey has to seriously question whether to sign the guy or not.

I mean his asking price for what he can deliver is going to be out of wack.

That's only true on the surface. LA didn't really send a double team on Brooks in game 5, because they did that late in game 4, but got burned when Aaron went by the help defender to the baseline, caused some quick blocking fouls on them. In game 5, LA played a soft man-on-man, the one you usually see in NCAA games, where you have one guy guards the ball, the rest of the team guard the paint, not exactly the zone, since each player still has his individual assignment, but they just pulled back half a step to crowd the interior area. Since they didn't pulled back completed, they were able to close to the Rockets player who received the ball from Aaron, that's why there wasn't many open shots there.

The best way to beat this kind of trapping defense is inside out, but since the Rockets doesn't have any inside game with Yao out, your next best option is the quick ball movement. Aaron is just too shot to make quick passes when facing the tall defender, that's evident from the TOs he had when tried to pass over the taller defender last game. So for him to move the ball efficiently, he needs to make the help defender FULLY commit, that will open his teammates up, and he is quick enough to get out of the trap before the defender gets to him. Lack of aggressiveness has been Brooks biggest problem, aside from his immaturity. He can get more mature by playing more games, but I'm not sure if he can learn to play with Lowry's aggression consistently, and that is the only thing prevent him from becoming a good player in this league.

Let's hope he scores at least 15 in game 6

Wow. How drunk can you all be?! LOL. I'm not saying drugs are bad, but depending on them is kind of not good, hahaha. But, anyways....

The Rox would be crazy to not re-sign Artest. yeah, he wasn't perfect, but he did a lot of GREAT things too. hell, if we only focused on OUR bad posts on this board, we'd get no where. Brooks is fine, too. I mean, what more do you want from a team that continues to have to keep adjusting and adjusting, not to place blame on anyone...because being great is about just THAT...being able to adjust...but i mean, ur center is Chuck Hayes? against Pau Gasol? The Chuckwagon is holding his own to the best of his ability, too...now,if only they would start to front Pau like some teams do a Tall center we have on our team....hmm. if only?

Good points about the Lakers defense, and I can also see what you mean by Brooks needing to be more aggressive and getting the help defender to fully commit. But from what I remember, the Lakers were just more intent on stopping Brooks than say Lowry. Given Brooks's Game 4, it's only natural that their MO would be to neutralize Brooks.

And while I agree Brooks's lack of consistency has been a problem, it's something I think that will improve with experience.

    Ouch.

I hate to rub it in, but with all due respect, I don't have to read anymore of this thread (other than the first post) to know that it failed.

AB plays great when his shot going in. Hope he can keep this up.

Next season, Yao should be able to rest more. AB plays better without Yao.

Hehe, here he is again. DD.
Didn't you guys realize the complexity of the team and game completely changed with Yao out?

That's what I was saying after game 5 in my "Game 4 is why the Rockets didn't invest in a backup C" thread. I feel your pain. ;)

Translation: Anything AB does this postseason that is a positive does not count because Yao is not in there. Of course, any negative that he does, still does count because well, it reinforces our animosity with him being a rookie type player or not passing it to Yao enough in our minds.

It would be fun to get the old Rockets draft thread when we got Brooks (bottom of the first round, a couple of years ago.) Most people were very, very upset about the pick.

Also... wrongecon is really making me LOL.

congrats alston for getting to a game 7 like the rockets. i appreciate your contribution to the rockets over the past several years and i'm enjoying both the magic and rockets taking it to the wire.

of course, i'm enjoying brooks and lowry just a bit more.

Just wait until you see how lethal the Brooks/Yao Pick and Roll or Pick and Pop will be next season.
