So when the Starburys go on sale at Ross, they'd be priced at 2-3 dollars then? Some brands of shoes are hard on the feet regardless of cost and some won't even if they're cheap. I've gotten some And-1 shoes which are obviously solely dedicated to basketball, and those MURDER my feet.
that was a the L.A. Dreamteam, the first popular rap group out of L.A. I had a pair of Etonics as a kid, played jr high basketball in them. those things were like moonboots.
oh yeah.. I remember it now.. the ddddd dream team is in tttt the house. hehe thanks for the memories..
Thats not the point. People like LeBron and Marbury have opportunities to help people that the average person does not have because of their financial status and fame. Most shoes dont cost the shoe companies more then $20 to make, and that is probably pretty high. If more players supported the idea of a few pairs of cheaper shoes for young kids who cant afford to spend $160, the show companies wouldnt lose that much, while giving back to the backbone of the basketball comunity.
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that hakeem did this back during the championship years with spaulding. he signed a sneaker endorsement deal for inexpensive shoes and he said he did it so kids wouldn't have to spend a lot of money on his sneakers.
thinking about hakeem, I was wondering what the worst shoe endorsed by a basketball player was. I'm thinking Karl Malone's L.A. Gear.
agreed!!! while ill never forgive starbury for what he did to Yao in his rookie year, i have a wee bit more respect for him as a person than i have for james. the way he came off like a rich snob, adding the fact that the media like espn worship him like a god , really makes me dislike him.
I'm glad Lebron is a jerk. It gives us more players to geniunely cheer against. Can't always boo Kobe ya know.
There's a brand new line of shoes that just came out. In the fall, Ben Wallace will have his own shoes. I like the look of the new ones much better than the old ones.
I got a pair of the starbury 2 on april fool's day. Only been playing some light basketball with them so far, and they are holding up well.
I don't need new shoes, but I will be buying a pair just to support what he's doing. We need more guys like Dream and now Marbury doing similar things. Consider it charity...
living in Asia... I found I can get Nike shoes...that you pay around $200 bucks for in the states... for $20-$60 depending on where you shop...
If an NBA player does decide to wear Starbury's... do they wear a special one made around their respective feet? or do they wear the same ones everybody else gets from the store? Because I'm not gonna lie, from the stories I hear from people about those shoes and the intensity of an NBA game... I would think those shoes would fall apart mid game. That means bad news for the Starbury business.
Guess what, signature shoes from Nike/Adidas/Rebook/etc that you buy aren't the same ones the real players wear as well. They are all special made and modified.
