LeBron is literally owned by Nike and was figuratively owned by Marbury.

Nike reportedly paid Jordan $20 mil a year during the 2nd ThreePeat run. Woods gets about 10-12 mil a year.

What's interesting is that even with these high profiled athletes, their endorsed shoes are still sitting on the shelves. It's not like the "old days" where a pair of Jordans would be gone within 5 minutes on release date.

I just bought a pair of Lebron IVs (I know I know...I should have looked for some Starburys) for a LOT less then the $150 retail price via the 30% Friends and Family.

Anyone needing some basketball shoes, check out Finishline. They have the new TMacs marked down to $70.00. Print out the coupon at finishline.com and get them for $60. (I'm heavily considering returning the Lebrons for these)

Very poor choice of words by LeBron and I don't think he was caught off guard by the question either.

Just for the record, I worked at Steve & Barry's for awhile, and I have to say that it's very inspiring to be able to see kids that otherwise couldn't afford an player-endorsed shoe run up to the cash register with a box of Starburys and a wad of crumpled bills in their hand. Everyone was always so enthusiastic about it. Kids would ask their mom, the mom would look weary, and then she'd find out the price. It made me happy to be able to see moms see their kids happy.

On the flipside, my boyfriend owns some Starburys and they kill his feet. Who knows what the consensus is.

there's no way a 14 dolla shoe wouldn't kill someone's feet. besides you can get like 20 dollar basketball shoes from Ross.. their original price are like 80 or something, and reduced to 20, i am sure they are better than starburies. or, get a footlocker 40% off coupon and get a good pair of basketball shoes for almost half price. Or, u can get really good deals on Ebay, i just bought a pair of Lebron 3 lows for 35 + shipping. I mean there are ways people can get Nikes for cheap, and they definitly won't kill your feet.

    Too bad they're crap.

My son's wore out in two months.

Go to the outlet stores and buy you some Nike or Rbk for maybe $20, and save yourself the hassle or pain.

I bought 20 dollar shows from walmart once; they killed my feet. That was a waste of 20 dollars. I just don't believe 20 dollar shoes are as good as 100 dollar shoes.

Outlet store shoes were previously prices $100 or higher in most cases...

    I got some great Nike's for $19.99, previously $119.99.

Wow LeBron. I kind of lost some respect for him after that.

Lose respect for LeBron? For what? For not bashing a company who is giving him 90 million dollars?

All he said was "Me being with Nike, we hold our standards high."

What did you want him to say?

"Yeah, I hope we lower our prices severely. We're truly an evil company. ALL MUST BOYCOTT NIKE!!!"

    Give me a break.

I saw that too. I've never liked Marbury as a player...ever. But after seeing him on that show, I have a whole new respect for the guy. At one point, when talking about kids not being able to afford high dollar shoes, he even got a little choked up. You can tell this is an issue he really cares about.

    Whole new respect.

Do it. I got the TMacs for $75 and they're amazing. Plus, you'll be repping T-Mac as well. ;)

Yea I feel the same way. I mean, I've tried many basketball shoes over the years and I definitely feel Nike's are the best. What's wrong with saying that he feels that the standards are high?

I never liked Lebron from the beginning when he was in high school. I always thought such talent should not have gone to such a crappy person. Nothing he say or do will make me like him.

Plus is it just me.. maybe it is.. but I've always thought that his game looks really ugly. He doesn't look cool and smooth when he plays like Kobe or Dwayne or our very own TMac.

Maybe all that talent should've gone to someone more deserving.. like.. Paul Shirley? hahah :D

I love Starbury shoes. I own four pairs. I don't wear Nikes because I would never spend that much on a pair of shoes and I don't like Michael Jordan. I think more players should support the Starbury shoes. They also have $10 shoes that aren't for basketball. They also sell jerseys, jackets, shorts, and pants for $14.98. I have one of the jackets.

All this, and I'm not a Knicks fan, not really a big Marbury fan, although I am a GA Tech fan.

No, Lebron's comments seem very condesending about Stephon Marbury's less expensive shoes. It isn't like Marbury is trying to compete with Nike.
