A game that doesn't get much mention, but was the best Bond game I ever played was 007: Everything or nothing. A buddy of mine who loved GoldenEye had never heard of it, so I let him borrow it. That was two months ago. Here are some highlights set to the music video that was made for the game. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BGUStBC5Obw&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BGUStBC5Obw&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Sw6PIB1dWMc&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Sw6PIB1dWMc&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
EA turns the Madden servers off after one year, so you won't be able to go online with Madden 05. If you have a Sharkport or something like that you can download from your PC then transfer the rosters to a memory card.
Ask and you shall receive. This list is gonna be shorter, because I'm trying to keep it to games that are more-or-less timeless... I don't care how cool it was at the time, it only matters if people would still think it's awesome right now. So naturally it's mostly a big list of RPGs, mostly kinda obvious... Role-Playing Chrono Cross My favorite RPG ever. Gets a lot of flack for not being enough like Chrono Trigger, but a truly great game in its own right. A lot of little innovations that make a big difference (new game+ mode that features a fast forward button, the game goes to a quick healing screen directly after each better, and they've eliminated leveling up by only giving you "experience" for boss fights). Graphics are gorgeous, storyline is excellently complex, the characters are widely varied and fun, and best of all: the soundtrack is just magnificent. Best game music ever as far as I'm concerned. I still listen to music from this game to this day. Final Fantasy 7 If you like RPGs and haven't played FF7, well... you're like an English major who's never heard of Shakespeare. Get with the program already. Xenogears Storyline is masterful, score is fantastic, character development is really, REALLY good, combat system stays fairly entertaining. There aren't enough good things to say about this one, much like Chrono Cross and FF7. If you like RPGs, you simply can't go wrong here. Final Fantasy Tactics Very involved, strategic job-based combat system. Lots of side-quests and things to do, and one of the most political storylines in an RPG ever. A truly refreshing change of pace for the traditional RPG fan. It's Disgaea before there was Disgaea, and it's executed even better, IMO. King's Field 1 & 2 Okay, here's how it goes with these two at the beginning: you die a lot, and have to start all over. It moves slow as molasses. It's ugly. The storyline is pretty fragmented throughout. But it doesn't matter! A few major points that make it fun: first, they stick enemies out in front of you from the get go you just can't beat. They taunt you with this giant Kraken at the beginning of the first game, and you just have to remember he's there so you can come back halfway through the game and grab his treasure. Speaking of treasure: there's so much unique, cool weaponry and armor to find that you always feel motivated to go find that next awesome item. Speaking of finding things: there have never been so many secret passages, doors, and treasures in any other game. Not even close. You end up training yourself to run along every sheer wall hitting the action button, hoping to find every little secret you can. And lastly, it's fairly non-linear, which is especially impressive considering that was hardly in vogue back when these came out.
Fighting Tobal 2 Oh dear god, why did this never come out in America? It still makes me cry at night. If you wanna play this, you need a modded PS1 and an imported copy of the game. But dear god is it fun! Not only is it simply a fun fighting game, but the quest mode is like nothing I've seen before. You go through dungeons with your chosen character, and each of your limbs gets "trained" the more you use it... so if all you do is left kicks, that left kick is gonna be able to kill a rhinoceros later... but run into an enemy who blocks that one move all the time, and you're hosed, because all your other limbs are too weak. And naturally, there are items to pick up and whatnot. Awesome game. Bushido Blade 1 & 2 Okay, so really, these games don't hold up very well today. But it's the novelty that'll get you, even now. One-hit kills! Frequently! Here's the thing though: it's about ten billion times more fun playing with a friend than against the computer. You can actually wound opposing fighters by cutting their limbs, so you'll often have fights where a guy's arm is hanging at his side... and better yet, you can cut the guy's leg, and then your fighter has to move around in this absurd crouched position for the rest of the fight. You haven't lived until you've faced off with a friend when you both have your legs taken out, haphazardly swinging at each other and just praying you see that ridiculous fountain of blood spraying out of the other guy's head, and not yours. It's friggin' hilarious. Action Die Hard Trilogy I would never buy this game for any one of the individual games... but they're all executed very well. Excellent package. One third-person shooter, one first-person rail shooter, and finally a Crazy-Taxi-esque game. All worth your time. Armored Core Mech combat at its best. Yeah, they've kept making these and making little tweaks and "improvements"... but hey, I think they had everything right the first time. You will have a BLAST obsessively customizing your AC. Missions are fun, and so are the arena battles. Platformer Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Who knew there'd be another classic platformer this late, eh? I mean, platformers where the old-school systems' forte. But surprise surprise... not much to say really, other than it's got everything you could possibly want out of a good platformer. Easy to get if you've got a 360 or a PS3, as it's downloadable for both. Strategy X-Com: UFO Defense This has to be one of my top 5 all-time favorite games. And yes, it was originally for the PC, and it's probably impossible to find for the PS anymore, but yeah... this is one of the few games that is just truly timeless. The strategy involved, the shockingly good AI, the customization, the research/resource management... and the sheer FEAR you feel going into a dark terror site without adequate weaponry... nothing like it. Seriously. If you're even remotely interested in games that involve a little micromanagement and a whole lot of strategic thinking, you simply must play this game. Rhythm PaRappa the Rapper This was pretty much the original rhythm game, and it still holds up pretty well today. Unfortunately short, but very goofy and fun.
Somehow, I never managed to play that. Based on endless accounts I can say pretty much without doubt that it's a great game, but I don't feel at all right recommending something I've never played.
