Hmm, more likely in a calendar event. I used to put the date&time stamp for certain events when they were accomplished, e.g. credit card payments.

Found something for you, I used the free version of this app.
There is a paid version which is 9.99

    https://market.android.com/details?id=com.webstandard.firekeys&feature=search_result

Enable the keyboard, go into it's settings, and select "edit shortcuts"

where it says replace, type in what shortcut you would like to associate with time stamping. In this case I selected "tm" , so anytime I type in tm, it immediately types in a time stamp.

Here is the format it comes out in

If anyone here is a running an official (Either RC or Stable Release) of CM7 or OMGB , I have an ICS lock screen mod for your device. It's a CWR flashible zip file. I won't post it here unless you request it.

If by any chance you happen to have a Droid Incredible, I'm in Rom Manager (I won't disclose my moniker) but you can find it in there.
(With that being said, make a nandroid, and I'm not responsible for a damn thing)

Several questions since this is my first android phone and I'm coming from an iPhone 4, I have a Samsung Galaxy s2 for t-mobile
    -----------------------
I have a Tmobile Samsung Galaxy S2 and a mac so as of now I can't really root the phone because its windows only for the root. I'm waiting for a mac abled one click root.

Other then that, this is my first Android (came from the iPhone 4) and wanted to know how do you guys decide which rom to use? Also, how hard is it to flash to different roms? I can do it after I root correct and if I do change rom's I would not have to reroot would I?

    --------------------
I know of Klies for syncing files but with my Mac, the only option I have is to see the files from my phone and upload them to my computer but I cannot add files to the phone through Klies.

I was wondering, besides connecting my phone to a USB or taking out my battery and using the MicroSD is there a wireless way for me to sync my music/photos/videos/etc to the Galaxy S2 (through the phone or any other APPS)? I also have a Mac so that might be a thing to know as well.

Also, any apps or is there any way I can get itunes to sync a playlist to the phone instead of me going through all my music files one by one and dragging it into a folder to sync with the S2?
    ------------------------
Also, the one thing I miss from the iPhone and frankly any other phone (BB, etc.) is the threading on my call logs (same number, multiple calls, show up once and you press it to show all the times of calls) and how when I push phone on the other phones it would show up in Call Log and not in the actual numbers tab because, frankly many people do not use that as much anymore.

Is there a work around that for those two concerns at the moment if I do not root? If not, is there a work around if I do root?

    thanks clutchfans!

Root methods for Mac's can sometimes take a while so I highly recommend using a friend's PC just to root your phone (Once that is done you shall be okay )

Samsung's have plenty root methods, currently I believe the only root method for the Tmobile GS2 is to flash a pre-rooted kernel via Odin.

Odin is a flashing utility that will flash software in .md5 format. You can download this program for free on the internet.

As the method may vary, I highly recommend going to Rootzwiki.com or xda-developers.com and checking out the guides that are SPECIFIC (Please don't flash stuff or attempt anything on your phone that is meant for another GS2)

It's not that hard, and once you're rooted you install a recovery (This is also very device specific so instructions vary). The most popular recovery is called Clockworkmod recovery. This enables you to create backups, flash roms, wipe data/ wipe cache, etc
You also flash roms through clockwork. It is very simple and it offers a user interface .

Roms are in .zip format and to determine which rom is best for you, you would have to take a look at the rom threads either at XDA or Rootzwiki. Once you are rooted, you can flash all the roms you'd like and you will not lose root (unless for some reason you accept an OTA update)
Always remember to wipe data, wipe cache, and dalvik cache through Clockwork if you are going to install a new rom.

As I previously stated, after you root your phone you won't really need to use your computer unless that is what you use to transfer over the files to the phone. You can boot in clockwork recovery once it is installed via an app called "quick boot" or it might be an option in the ROM you are running. You can also boot into it manually (usually by pression a three button combination while it is powered off)

Ditch Kies, there are a magnitude of apps that you can enable wireless syncing. I sometimes use an app called Browsix, and it works terrific. You pretty much just browse to your phone by IP on your laptop and it enables you to drag an drop and do other stuff.

As far as the dialer, that is a Samsung Touchwiz limitation that unfortunately cannot be completely solved by using a different launcher. I highly recommend flashing an AOSP based rom and that will solve your problems. I also believe there is an app called "Go Dialer", that might offer functionality similar to what you are looking for.

I'm sure I probably misssed something, so if you have any questions, PM me

Is there a better browser than Dolphin HD? I've heard so many good things about it, but the scrolling is SLOOOOOOOOW. I also hate having to wait for it to reload the page every time I open it. The whole thing is just really sluggish.

Is there a better option for the Android market?

That's a good question...I haven't been able to settle on one myself, so I'm using good ol' Browser 2.3.7.

I was using Dolphin there for a little while (I do think it's the most balanced of all the "aftermarket" browsers), but then I read this:

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319529

    Worth noting, Opera's a pretty good/smooth browser.

On the Market thing, I'm assuming you have the new version and it's laggy for you. Well, there's an even newer version that's supposedly more smooth than the last. The previous version ran perfectly fine on my phone, and this one does too, so I can't really comment from experience:

I use and like Dolphin HD as the best balance between speed/performance and capabilities. I have also used Opera in the past (even on feature phones) and that is also a very good alternative to the pretty basic stock browser. I haven't tried Mirren but I have heard that one is pretty good too.

I like Opera's browser better then Dolphin. It's very fast to render the web pages.

This is what I use daily on my phone.

Also, for whoever asked if there is an alternative market.
Download AppBrain App Market , it still links to the market but it has a nice sync feature and it's search is tons better than the stock android market.

Also, not sure if you guys already knew this but you can donwload apps directly to your phone via market.android.com

MixZing music player. Maybe you guys were talking about something different.

I downloaded Opera Mini and it's great, but it's not letting me log into any sites that I have and ID and password for. What's the difference between Opera and Opera Mini?
