If you use Google Chrome as your browser, install the MightyText Chrome extension, and the MightyText android app to be able to send and receive text messages on your computer. It uses your own cell number, and whatever you type on the pc will sync onto your phones inbox(you can see your inbox on the computer as well, along with your Google contacts). You even get notifications through your browser when you get a message with the ability to reply right then and there. It's FREE https://market.android.com/details?id=com.texty.sms&feature=search_result
Another great pick, super useful. Now I can make calls or take camera shots in a pinch instead of going through 2-3 steps. I also jumped on the custom rom bandwagon, and enjoying that as well.
Just got this app and it is AWESOME. It works out perfect for texting while surfing and not having to go back and forth from the phone to computer. Thanks for posting.
It depends on how much of an Outlook addict you are. For most people, Android's standard EAS support will work just fine for both email and calendaring. Samsung's email and calendar (on the Galaxy S II) is particularly impressive and pretty much renders TouchDown moot.
The SGSII email app isn't all that great either. It doesn't display messages with HTML markup correctly unless you hit the download entire message button. Enhanced E-mail is my exchange email client of choice.
OfficeSuite Pro 5 is available for free on Amazon's appstore (only today): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051UP5NQ?ie=UTF8&ref=mas_faad
Vlingo. The hands free in car option is amazing. Ask it a question get an answer. Think of iPhones siri to a lesser degree except this was what I believe siri was modeled after. Visidon. Use your face to lock any application on your phone. Works perfectly.
Just got my 1st ever smartphone and its an android!!! How do i get rid of the automatic slide phone lock thing? Thank you!
Download WidgetLocker . Comes with nice lock screens. Works for rooted (more functionality) and non rooted phones
I have a ton of calendars, shared calendars, folders, and etc. I've used a modified stock 2.3 E-mail apk with Exchange security policies disabled and it's okay, but Touchdown pulls off HTML perfectly . I've yet to play with the GS2 app, I'll try to run it off of a dump from a GS2 rom
No problem, since then I have now been using DeskSMS. Works even better for me since I can use an XMPP client such as Pidgin to get text's forwarded to my linux box via Gtalk
Anyone knows if there's a way to insert a date and time stamp in Android handily like the "shortcut" feature in Palm OS? In Palm OS, we can insert date and time stamp by entering "ℓdt".
