Just downloaded and tried Sketchbook Express from Autodesk (makers of Autocad).. And I have to say, what a brilliant little graphics program. Intuitive, easy, fast, powerful, and really slick. I have tried a few of the different drawing/creative graphics programs, like Sketcher and some neon-looking thing, but this one is definitely the best. And free.
New Motorola Droid X owner here, previously iPhone user. Wow i love this phone wayyyy more than iphone. Just a few thoughts from my limited use on this phone so far: Bigger, sharper screen! I got big hands so its just perfect for me! Touch screen on droid is just as responsive as iphone. Downloaded my favorite songs for free via the various MP3 apps, to think of all that money I wasted on iTunes. Used my phone to surf the web on my computer via tethering, last I heard AT&T doesnt even allow this with their android devices. Flash! Now i can stream p*rn to my phone!! I found myself restricted to pics only on my iphone, boring! No more big questtion mark box. Interchangeable batteries and SD cards is nice, no more being limited to 8 or 16gb.
Are you saying you downloaded a .zip file to your phone? If that's the case, get a file manager that can handle .zip files (ES File Explorer, for instance), navigate to the .zip (probably in /sdcard/download/), extract the files (probably via long press of the .zip), then copy them to your music folder.
It never felt like advanced task manager ever did anything on my evo, so I just replaced it with watch dog from some of your recommendations. I love how it shows which applications are taking up the cpu.
I tried that one but it wasn't actually killing any of my apps like it said it was. I would "kill" an app, then go to settings-apps-manage apps and it was still running. So I uninstalled it and got Android Assistant and it works much better.
This cannot be said enough: Don't install an app killer on your Evo. You don't need one. Sometimes they even cause stability problems. Froyo will take care of killing apps just fine by itself. By the way, anyone who hasn't tried the MIUI ROM is really doing themselves a disservice in my opinion. It is so, so awesome. The only downside is that it doesn't support WiMAX, but coverage is really spotty anyway and it more than makes up for it with so many other things: really slick and smooth UI, extremely customizable and themable, outstanding battery life, Do Not Disturb mode with whitelists, advanced notification menu, and some really great and well designed apps - MIUI music, DSP manager, gallery, notes, file manager, backup, etc. English versions are available at www.miuiandroid.com.
yeah... i mentioned this before. miui makes up for what android lacks in fluidity. great for folks coming over from ios or webos (especially since the ui is uber similar to ios). simple. intuitive. also the tiamat kernel makes battery life bearable... well... that and another battery voltage mod that's out there.
It's been more than bearable for me certainly - I mess around with my phone all the time and I easily make it through a whole day without having to recharge now, especially if I'm on wifi most of the time. Even with 3G the battery life is much better - last night, for example, I went 3 hours on 3G and only burned through about 15% of battery. There was a big improvement with the Gingerbread release that somehow really does wonders for power savings.
Like I've said previously, if you kill apps, they will restart. It's just the way Android 2.2 works. You honestly don't need a task killer. What kills battery is CPU usage, and watchdog monitors that. If you're rooted, you need SETCPU to save battery (OR WASTE IT if you overclock). Just set up certain profiles, like the profile to have your phone run at its minimum while the screen is off
I'm personally waiting for CM7 http://cyanogenmod.com if you need more info click that. It should be out on my Thunderbolt soon.
Yes sir, I was once an iPhone. Welcome to the world of DOES. You should be getting Gingerbread pretty soon ) Android 2.3
Props on the PlayerPro recommendation. The interface is killer, and it allows you to pick songs by genre. For some reason that's not in most other music apps.
Sorry for blowing up this last page guys. If you have an epic 4g. I found something interesting for you http://device.sprintpcs.com/Samsung/SPH-D700/ED12.rdf its in RDF format so its not very browser friendly do a ctrl +f and search for 2.3 Sprint is working on gbread for it. Last touched March 12
Widget Locker. Great app that lets you customize your lock screen. You can add touch shortcuts, widgets, or additional sliders so you don't have to unlock your phone to access your normal home screen. I like it because I can put widgets on my lock screen like weather updates, and I can access my most-used apps quicker. Another great feature is you can wake up your phone by pressing any hardware button (eg power button, lock button, volume button, camera, or even trackball). It's great for phones that have the lock button in an unergonomic place, like my G2. It's the only app that I spent money to get.
