    Smashing Pumpkins.....

I know that they had a release before Siamese Dreams

But it was their first big album and was by far and away their best.

No *way*. Totally disagree. It's not even *their* best album - in fact, every album after that has been better, particularly Paul's Boutique and Ill Communication - and I think maybe NWA or Public Enemy might have something to say about your last assertion.

Jamiroquai actually keeps having some good hits, most recently Corner of the Earth, Love Foolosophy, You give me something...

Maybe they were not that big in the US, but in Europe, they were quite successful.

    One of my personal favorites.

I almost mentioned this because I agree that "Siamese Dream" is the BEST Smashing Pumpkins album; however, I can't say that it was far and away better than "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" despite the overbloatedness of that album simply because there were some absolutely brilliant songs on it.

Plus I didn't mention it because "Gish" was their debut, and I followed the guidelines strictly.

In the US the only song thats really done anything is "Virtual Insanity," and that was only because of the cool video. He's had some very minor success with other songs, but NOTHING like what he's had in Europe & Australia.

Limp Bizkit's 3 dolla bill y'all, IMO that cd was there best, it was hard rock and thats what i liked, but each album kept getting more and more rappy.

Luckily I know that music appreciation is subjective, so I don't have to worry about what you backwards so. hemisphere types think about the crows or the beasties and their position in the rap hierarchy. :p :D

Dude, if you think the Beastie Boys had the best rap album ever, the all you really deserve is a StupidMoniker. How much rap do you actually listen to. If that is not one of the your primary genres then don't comment, because it obviously isn't.

I actually think it's only subjective up to a point. Some things are just *clearly*, objectively better or worse than other things, and only sheer bloodymindedness allows people to argue otherwise. This is one of those times.

By the way, I never mentioned the Counting Crows, but I hate them too. ;)

Manny: I agree that Exile in Guyville is better than Liz's other two albums, but they're *all* really good. I love her!

BTW, Did anyone see the VH-1 special on one hit wonders. Talk about memories, laughs, and good times. Between that and I love the 80's, VH-1 is slowly becoming one of my favorite channels.

I would agree that the Beastie Boys had one of the best rap albums ever...and I am a rap fan.

Almost every song on there was a hit, not many rap albums can claim that. Maybe THE KING OF ROCK or THE CHRONIC but what other rap albums have achieved similar mainstream success?

Now that's funny. "Playing with the Queen of Hearts..."

I vote for Pearl Jam - Ten.

You could also make a case for:

    Right Said Fred
    Big Country
    Berlin
    Eddie Rabbit

    and

    Twisted Sister
