Like Max said.. Sting did some GREAT work after Ten Summoner's Tales, even his newer stuff is great.. it's a totaly different Sting, but GREAT none the less..

Max I totaly agree with you on everything, but if you liked Brand New Day you should give Sacred Love another try, track 8 This War is kind of political, but it is such a throwback to The Police days it’s great and track 4 Dead Man’s Rope is very good too.. I think Sacred Love is his best solo album even over Nothing Like the Sun or Mercury Falling.. Call me crazy, but I think Sting is getting better as he goes..

I think it was probably their most successful album. And their career isn't over, to my knowledge.

Yeah, Love and Electric were classics but I didn't like Sonic Temple at all, even though I did like the opening track. It's funny, the album starts out with so much promise. Then leaves you hanging in the breeze.

I liked two of the songs on 'Ceremony'
I liked four of the songs on 'Sonic Temple'
I liked four of the songs on 'Electric'
I thought two of the songs on 'Love' were okay
And I really liked their single of 'The Witch'

I have to throw in my .02 on the Sting debate. He did continue to change musically, unfortunately it was down the path of the musical devil, which turns the singer/bassist from a great band into a big pu$$y.

Sting was at his best in the police when Stuart Copeland was giving him regular physical beatings. Though, I guess by the end Sting had become immune to those, because the remakes project was really awful, as was Every Breath You Take, and some of the more sissified offerings from Syncronicity, though it still had some great songs on it too.

I agree. You could tell Ian was losing interest. Duffy wanted to go super commercial and Ian wasn't digging it. From time to time I still listen to Dreamtime, Love, & Electric to bring back memories. :D

Anyone else see The Cult in '86 with G&R as the opening band?

Neil Young is known for his experimentation, he did one Techno album for god's sake. But 2005 Prairie Wind has got no balls.

Flame away, "It's the new Harvest". No, it's boring.

And if you are listening to Sting and it is not for the expressed purposed of wooing a chick, you need to check your manhood.

They came then opening for Billy Idol. But I don't think Sonic Temple came out until 91.

The tour must have been at least in 1990 (I went to the concert with my gf at the time and we didn't hook up until 1990 .. ... ...... mmmm..... she was scrumptious........ good times!....).

i saw them at numbers during the love tour. can't stand them nowadays.

as to the thread topic, who hasn't made a bad record? i mean, bands with limited output like the smiths or even nirvana didn't have any stinkers but someone like neil young, as dubious mentioned, has had a few, mostly due to the length of his career. but the only one i can think of that's had a long, long career with no bad albums is tom waits.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Sly Stone, Parliament (not including Funkadelic) and Marley each had around 15 albums. The Cars yea they only had 5 or so.

Perhaps this interview will give you some perspective on Praire Wind.

    It is far from boring.

Im sorry but Sonic Temple is an absolute gem IMO. Sure it got overproduced by Bob Rock, but their sound is still there - good as gold. Its definitely not as edgy as Electric or Love, but has some great straight up rock-n-roll songs.

Edie (Ciao Baby) is probably one of my favorite Cult songs of all time.

they were all around only 8 years or less. RELATIVELY speaking meowgi.
of those bands i like parliament/funkadelic most. i have one nation under a groove, mothership connection, clones of dr. funkenstein, free your mind and your ass will follow, maggot brain, standing on the verge of getting it on, let's take it to the stage. comparatively i have twenty neil young albums from 1969 to now. that's a long career.

The Cars' last album, "Door to Door" was an obvious mail-it-in job. God did that album sucked, almost as much as "The Hunter" by Blondie.

ok BUT Marley's first #1 Jamacian single came out in 62. So I would call that a 20 year span, even though he didn't have full albums early on.

We could call Parliament "George Clinton" and all his stuff is good from 67 up to now. Putting all of Parliament/Funkadelic + solo albums together is close to 40 albums i'm guessing. While all are not gems I don't think any truly suck.

But who really cares. And shut up Manny, that one doesn't count.
