no doubt - rocksteady i loved tragic kingdom and return of saturn wasnt that bad either, but their latest album i dunno...
Their self titled album was a huge turd. I listened to that POS one time and sold it back to the record store the next month...
(disclaimer: some, in fact most, of these have a great song or two on them. I'm talking about when you try to listen to the album all the way through.) U2 - Pop Counting Crows - Hard Candy Cake - Pressure Chief REM - three-way tie (between Up, Reveal, and New Adventures in Drink Coasters... I mean Hi-Fi...)
pressure chief was terrible, the first track was ok, but the rest just fell off terribly......The Guitar Man cover wasn't very good, Cake needs to step it up!
C'mon, Pressure Chief was a great album! I think most Cake fans are so used to Cake being humorous and off beat that they got turned off when the band tried something more serious. Plus, synthesizers don't get much love these days... Even though I like all their albums, I always thought Prolonging the Magic was their weakest...
Late Registration is actually superior to The College Dropout in almost every facet...Lyrics, subject matter, production. Kanye has actually become a complete rapper on this album. His lyrical ability has improved immensely, his flow has improved...he's just a better rapper now. Give Late Registration another try and approach it like you would a real rap album, a Nas, Mos Def, or Jay-Z album. You're right though...Gold Digger ****ing sucks.
Funny, when I saw the thread title, I immediately thought of this album. What a piece of crap that was. I also think it's funny somone would list Jack Johnson's On and On. It sounds so much like Brushfire Fairytales, I don't see how one could be listed and not the other.
Maybe because I just heard it for the first time, but I dig Golddigger. I like the whole CD. Everyday by DMB would probably top my list, followed by that stinker just released by Weezer. I guess I should put that stinker by Weezer above Everyday because I still enjoy Everyday, it's just their worst. There are so many CDs listed here that I don't understand the hate. Pop and Maladroit leading the list.
Weezer - the last 3 albums Radiohead - Hail to the Thief Red Hot Chili Peppers - everything after Blood Sugar Sex Magic is garbage Sting - everything after Ten Summners Tales DMB - the latest album (drum loops??? ) Ten Hands - Be My Guru Smashing Pumpkins - Machina/Machine of the Gods (more like turd of the Gods) Living Colour - Collideoscope (sounds like it was recorded on a 4-track cassette recorder)
BITE YOUR TONGUE!!! i think Sting continued to evolve. i didn't care much for his latest album..but was cool with his other stuff, still. liked mercury falling quite a bit. mine is definitely EVERYDAY by DMB. no question about it. before i saw them live this last summer, i would have said they're newest album..but hearing those songs live changed my mind.
G n' R - Use your illusion I and II should have put only one disc out funny how don't cry and november rain were recorded during the appetite sessions
I agree with a bunch of the previous posters, except for the Foo Fighter comment, so here's some additional ones that no one has mentioned: Ministry's "Filth Pig" - esp after their previous 3 albums were awesome. (Hearing "Thieves" in the movie Murderball was incredible) Ten Hands' "Be My Guru" - "The Big One Is Coming" was so good, then the lead signer tried changing his voice or something. And we releasing the song Old Eyes with the crap voice was TERRIBLE. The Sundays - "Blind." Outside of a cover of Wild Horses, unimpressive. Edie Brickell + the New Bohemians - "Ghost of a Dog"
A few from the hip hop world for you... Pharcyde - Plain Rap De La Soul - Stakes is High A Tribe Called Quest - The Love Movement Basehead - Not in Kansas anymore Public Enemy - Muse - Sick - N - Hour - Mess - Age
Machina DID suck didn't it!? Horrendous album. I see good picks here ... the Janes pick, Luna ... the Bad Brains pick ... I'll say, BORN AGAIN - Black Sabbath (& even though the cover RULES!) Coming off of the underrated MOB RULES, Ian Gillan was a bad fit for Sabbath, though "Trashed" & "Digital b****" are acceptable. I didn't dig The White Stripes - "Get Behind Me Satan" as well as the others. Hope Jack goes back to playing guitar again. Oh, I have one ... even though I like, "The Soft Bulletin" - The Flaming Lips, it's no "Clouds Taste Metallic."
If I remember right, that was when they hit their "let's water down our music so we can get a major record deal" phase. Maybe Jeff can confirm this. This was also after God...er, uh, Earl Harvin left the band. Hmmm. I dig this album. It's different from Rubber Bands but I still like it.
wow...that's soooo true! i forgot about that one. doesn't even register among the other Tribe albums that came out before it.
