Both bands hooked me with the live performances- REM when I saw them at Southern Star Ampitheatre for the Life's Rich Pageant tour and U2 when I caught the War tour at the Music Hall. I like 2 other bands with music that has the power of U2 and REM: Simple Minds and The Call. Once Upon a Time from SM and Reconciled from The Call are 2 absolutely fantastic CDs. Me too. Hope you're in Houston next year. Because you're going to love the play I'm making based on Bluefinger w/Charles Thompson.

I'll be there for sure. He's probably my favorite artist of all time and blue finger is awesome. I see him everytime he's in town and last time through I saw him at Waterloo records in Austin, then that night at la zona Rosa and then the next night here at the meridian. My wife was afraid I was going to start follwlowing him around on tour and started calling me a "blackhead". I'm jelous you get to work with him on this project.

Never was a big fan of either band. I'll give the nod to U2 since I like Achtung Baby and the Joshua Tree.
