Muse/Silversun Pickups this Thursday at Toyota Center. After seeing their playlist and youtubes of their stage setup, yeah...I'm beyond pumped.
I never even heard of pitchfork until this thread. Still have not read it and won't. The music i choose to listen to comes from friends usually, and even then I don't like a large percentage of it. No one will ever force feed me anything, big reason why I won't listen to the big fm stations, ever.
Which is why metacritic is a decent place to get a consensus about music. Still the way they grab reviews seems kind of haphazard. It's hard to really get much from music reviews anyway. You rarely find truly negative reviews like you do for movies.
My friends and I run a little booking collective around town. We're bringing Thee Oh Sees to town tonight. If you can, you should swing by. Should be fun. at Mangos. $8
I made it to Lubbock for Testament and Megadeth. Both bands just killed. It was a great show, though Megadeth's sound was a bit muddy, which was disappointing. It must have been set up poorly because Testament sounded awesome. Good stuff all around for the 20-year anniversary of Rust in Peace. Rock on, y'all. \m/ >_< \m/
4/26-Lupe Fiasco with B.o.B/House of Blues 5/07-Ludacris/Arena Theater 6/05-6/06-Free Press Summerfest/Elanor Tinsley Park 6/08-Nas with Damian Marley/Warehouse Live 6/17-Passion Pit/Warehouse Live June is going to be awesome.
That's exactly what I said when I saw it today. I can't wait to see them live. I had there cd on constant rotation in the summer.
Damn! Where is Jullian playing? Phoenix as well. I have these two on rotation with Muse in the car. Jullian's solo record is friggin' nice!
Did you see Passion Pit last June at Warehouse Live side room? Harlem Shakes opened for them and the show was amazing. I was really surprised the show was sold out, since PP wasn't that big back then. This time around Tokyo Police Club is opening for them. They are one awesome band that always makes it a point to stop in Houston. Don't miss them. They have a new album coming out pretty soon.
Have great tickets to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers next month at the Cynthia Mitchell Woods. Also buying tickets to ACL this month, The Arcade Fire are playing festivals this year and I think there is a good chance they will stop in at ACL (they have played there twice before) Amazing live show and they have a new cd coming soon.
No I missed them and I've been kicking myself until I saw that there were coming back so I can't wait. And don't worry, I already got my tickets.

......Waaaaaaaaa? How the hell did I miss this? I love Camp Lo. Even bought there Black Hollywood cd that came out not that long ago. Thank you for letting this be known. Totally asking off for this tomorrow.
Elton John, Friday night, United Spirit Arena Finally, someone comes to Lubbock! After having traveled to Oklahoma to see Roger Daltrey, Nevada to see Cheap Trick, and Dallas to see Ray Davies, it's about time we got someone halfway decent to come up to this remote part of civilization. I have to admit, I was never a huge fan of Elton John. Liked some songs, felt others were too poppy or bubblegum (Crocodile Rock, Bennie and the Jets), never was into piano players that much as opposed to guitar-driven music. And while I still won't rank him in my top 20 or 30, he did put out a handful of classic albums, which is more than many can say. I think you have to go with Captain Fantastic first- the only album that Elton John admits they didn't consciously try to write "songs for the pop charts." Uncommercial Elton John is always the best: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is his White Album, Quadrophenia, etc. Not as good as those, but very good. "Funeral for a Friend" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" are two of the best songs ever: The rest of his '70s output is top-quality: Caribou, Honky Chateau, Madman, etc.: First time to see Mr. John. Never too late.
Hopefully I'll be listening to some Godspeed You! Black Emperor soon. They are getting back together! http://www.twentyfourbit.com/post/506802248/godspeed-you-black-emperor-end-hiatus
