Another show I got a ticket for recently, Vampire Weekend on April 29th. Tomorrow night is Pavement and Wednesday are the Dirty Projectors.
I got a ticket to see Vampire Weekend in Sept at Radio City. So long from now... Also seeing Flaming Lips in Central Park this summer, Porcupine Tree at Radio City in the fall, and Julian Casablancas in some town in Jersey on March 30.
A friend of mine that I trust just told me about "Bear in Heavan" next Tuesday at Mango's. Anyone familiar? Guess I'll check it out
Bear in Heaven has gotten alot of buzz recently since it was on Pitchfork's Best New Music. I would attend, but I'm not in town. It should be a good show as Cymbals Eat Guitars is the headliner.
Houston is getting some really good indie acts I've noticed in the next few months. Beach House, Caribou, Deer Tick, Benoit Pioulard, Murder by Death, Here We Go Magic etc..
Pitchfork should just convert their Magazine into an IV that hipsters can hook up to their brain waves so they will instantly known which music to like.
Actually, the hipsters I know consider Pitchfork the lazy way to find out about music. They've already moved past that site. (MIND EXPLOSION!) They spend their time on obscure music blogs reading about the newest Scandinavian art rock band.
At Avant Garden on Friday is a great Austin band called Megafauna, 3 piece post-rock in the vein of Deerhoof w/smoking hot female lead guitarist/singer. Also on the bill are my band Inner Lights.
Tomorrow night we have tickets to see the Pixies at a club here in Auckland. Of course, that is also the due date for our first child. It should be a hell of a day, either way.
Pretty much. Nothing annoys me more than when I post an album which gets a handful of responses, then PFM gives its stamp of approval and said album's popularity explodes. Shouldn't the genre indicators + recommended if you like ____ be a good enough indicator as to whether or not you'll like something? It saddens me how many people rely on Pitchfork to tell them what to like.
Taking my wife in April to Vegas so she can see Garth Brooks. Also just got comped Muse tickets from Mandalay Bay, so may see them too.
The same thing happens with movies with sites like Rotten Tomatoes too, but at least you can sort of figure out which Critics you can rely on on sites like those. Generally a consensus is better than one writer's opinion.
man i'm so outta the loop i have no clue who is playing.... never thought i'd be saying that. i know we may be going to phoenix in april although im not particularly excited about that. when's deer tick? i will be there.
So fu**** jealous of you right now. I really hate you for today and tomorrow...then I guess your ok. But really the baby will understand. And photoshop works miracles so you can have somebody takes photos, then add yourself in later.
