Nah they played **** off Antics and Turn on the Bright Lights... No NYC or Stella was a Diver though. Kind of a little disappointed in the show. Reek - I tried spottin you but I was stuck right behind the tallest mother****er there. Dude was like 6 foot 6 and started jumping up and down... ridiculous.
Tuesday @ Stubb's - Black Label Society & Clutch on Fun Fun Fun Fest next week @ Waterloo Park: Slick Rick Mastodon Suicidal Tendencies RJD2 Gwar Eagle Claw Bad Religion Pharoahe Monch Yelle The Descendents Man Man High on Fire and I cannot forget Weird Al Yankovic
OK, so I'm seeing The Wall again on Tuesday. I mean, he keeps adding NY and NJ shows, and we keep buying them, its madness. Been to MSG and Long Island, so this finishes the trifecta at Izod Center. Then I'm moving back to Calgary and there will be no good live music all winter. Ugh.
Of Montreal w/ Janelle Monae tonight at #'s. Tickets still available. Unless you hate fun, you should go to this show.
Of Montreal was the show I had the most fun at in the last 2 years, if anyone has the chance to see them, make sure you do.
One more to add to the list. They just revealed that The Antlers are the surprise guest at tomorrow's Gorilla vs Bear show at The Mohawk in Austin, so me and the wife are gonna make the drive up there tomorrow. Love The Antlers and have never seen them live, so excited that this one came out of nowhere.
Fun Fun Fun Fest all weekend... Friday: Arc Attack The Apples in Stereo Weird Al Saturday: Valient Thor Devin the Dude Wavves Slick Rick Municipal Waste Os Mutantes The Gories Man Man Gwar MGMT Sunday: Indian Jewelry Peelander Z OFF! Nortec Collective Best Coast Polvo Deerhunter High on Fire Suicidal Tendencies Mastodon EDIT: I removed The Antlers. Suck. Bad recommendation.
yes. check them out. They are my personal favorite act going right now. Even though Joseph Martinez keeps his face buried in the mic for most of the set...I still think they put on a fantastic show. I was kinda put off by the vocals at first, but then I quickly realized their influences are Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Killing Joke, Tears for Fears and other 80's dark wave goth. Then it made sense and Junius pwnd me. <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6p4gf1ZQ2xQ?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6p4gf1ZQ2xQ?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/orYHFDJVK1M?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/orYHFDJVK1M?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
Wish I could go really badly. Saw Janelle Monae this weekend and the show would be worth it just for her, no matter what Of Montreal does
Gram Parsons birthday fest at Threadgill's South this Sunday. No idea who is playing, I know the bar manager so I really don't care, will be goodness.
OK. I listened. I'm a huge fan of bands like Soft Cell and 80s dark wave in general. However, something about this band just doesn't grab me. I'll be there, so I'll try to check them out anyway. Thanks for the recommendation. I need all the help I can get in regards to "new" music. Stuck in 1974-1984 land...
the hold steady tomorrow! i can't recommend this band enough if you love you some good bar rock with some witty lyrics. warehouse studio, $20.50 after fees. dr. dog next weekend. it's been a good run for shows in houston.
hey no worries bro. like I said, they didn't exactly grab me at first either. took a few listens to understand it. I also have an affinity for almost any artist signed to The Mylene Sheath label. I saw these guys at SXSW last year and a few days ago in Shreveport, La. I was really amazed at the crowd's reaction to them. It was almost like a cult chanting their lyrics. Pretty intense. anyway...74-84 isn't a terrible place to be stuck in, musically.
