    jesus christo!
ive had mine since november and i just cracked 4000 last week. you must have been uploading albums 24/7 for the last week, you freak :D

flaming lips - at war with the mystics - didnt like it the first couple listens and the lyrics are wayne's cheesiest, imo, but the music and album overall are quickly growing on me.

loose fur - born again in the u.s.a. - 2nd album from jeff tweedy and glen kotche (wilco) and producer jim o'rourke. very stripped down, but the songs harken back to summer teeth style. better than the first.

slowdive - pygmallion - album has been out of print for years, but just got rerelased. slowdive was one of those british shoegazer bands of the early 90's and this was their last record (95) and doesnt sound so much like the rest of their stuff. very ambient and chilled out. really, it sounds like sigor ros took their que from this record.

cafe tacuba - cuatro camino's - best mexican band ever! this record sounds like beck and the flaming lips going to record with bends era radiohead.

band of horses - everything all the time.
you guys have got to give this one a try. very dramatic, epic sort of album. lots of buildups throughout the songs and big climax.

the band - greatest hits (i think)
from the best bands not from US thread

    cat power - the greatest
very nice. soulful, folk, lots of piano and accoustic guitars.

My favorite Who album; I am putting all my Who stuff on my iPod as we speak.

Oh and Bob - I felt the same way you did for several years but I finally broke down and got one. My only regret was that I didn't do it sooner. Any time, I want to hear an album, hell a song, I can go to it and find it and play it without carrying a bunch of CDs around with me.

uhh.. yeah, my wife's Japanese and she says that is the equivalent of listening to Britney Spears. And after listening to her songs, I tend to agree. But hey, to each his own.

    YES YES YES YES!!!

I'm so glad to see another Slowdive fan on the board. I don't have Pygmallion yet, but I plan to get it soon. IMO, Souvlaki is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard. Do you follow Neil, etc. as Mojave 3? I can't wait for "Puzzles Like You" in June.

JM, have not gotten the new Flaming Lips yet, but they are getting pretty heavy airplay out here. Maostly W.A.N.D. and the Yeah Yeah Yeah song. Glad to hear it's growing on you as so far (based on those two), I'm getting a lettle worried.

    BTW, Loose Fur sounds interesting.

I got Hawkwind ~ Quark Strangeness & Charm album at a garage sale for 75 cents last weekend and have listened to that some. But I really don't listen to much music anymore except for the "'80s" and "space music" shoutcast at work. I just don't care anymore.
