Perry as a recording artist is not my cup of tea. great producer, studio engineer and he knows talent ... still lukewarm on Scratch... from his new album 'Destiny'. Blvk H3ro makes this worth listening
Started the morning with this afro-house mix that popped up on my YT feed with the kinda scary very hot milf lesbian (?) dj. Reminds me of some of the stuff I used to listen to in the 90s. @boomboom
The music is fantastic...but the dancing b!tches remind me of the Rebecca Black video. Very much detracting. And...most importantly, she needs to be turning knobs on the stove, pushing buttons on the microwave and wearing a headset when attending the PTA online meeting.
Musician son is obsessed with Swans. He saw them on what I suspect was their farewell tour in NYC not long ago. I think he got the set list from the show that night he saw them. He counts them as one of his major influences in his playing.
So in listening to these last 4 albums, I am struck again by how these 4 artists (Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Sonic Youth, and Pavement) along with Yo La Tengo sorta represent to me the pinnacle of indie rock. I know that I am leaving out Built to Spill, Neutral Milk Hotel (only 2 albums), Guided by Voices, Modest Mouse, Elliot Smith, etc. but these 5 are the ones that I think are the best. And there are so many other albums out there by these groups as side projects: Dinosaur Jr - obviously Sebadoh but solo albums by both J Mascis and Lou Barlow Pixies - Frank Black solo stuff and The Breeders and maybe even Throwing Muses (?) Sonic Youth - Thurston Moore solo stuff and the Kim Gordon side group, Free Kitten Pavement - Stephen Malkmus solo stuff and the Silver Jews Yo La Tengo - James McNew (bass player)'s side project, Dump
