Know what you mean, dude - I have lost count of how many CDs are out there that I would like to have. Currently listening to or have been listening to: "Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spillum Endalaust" - Sigur Ros "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating Into Space" - Spiritualized "The Colour of Spring" - Talk Talk "Camembert Electrique" - Gong "They Were Wrong, So We Drowned" - Liars "Souvlaki" - Slowdive "Playing With Fire" - Spacemen 3

Not a whole lot today other than these: "Lazer Guided Melodies" - Spiritualized "Static & Silence" - The Sundays Also been playing as loud as possible in my car, Spiritualized's "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating Into Space". I asked myself today why I was so late on Spiritualized/J Spaceman/Spacemen 3 since they are an (obvious) influence on Sigur Ros. Oh well, at least I have found them and it's never too late to get into good music, I say.
This has become one of my 5 favorite songs ever: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EOL1291ryKM&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EOL1291ryKM&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I realized it was the anniversary of Smith's death last night after randomly remembering why FFB rubbed me the wrong way, here. I'm not one to remember such anniversaries; odd coincidence.
So are you on Dime-a-Dozen torrent site?? If not I need to get your address to send you some live Spiritualized and that Echo Dek remix. Asking b/c there is a live version of all of Ladies and Gentelmen up at the moment.
After he offed himself, I became much less of a fan. It's weird, but now in his songs I just hear (edit: I can spell) this hyperbolic depression and drama. Suicide makes me really angry for some reason. I don't think others should feel this way, and his music is great.
Nah, man - I don't know anything about that site or any of these other torrent sites. After my last home computer crashed (the wife had Limewire on it), I have gotten real paranoid about having music files that are on my computer that aren't mp3 files.
I've also been on a Tom Waits kick for a while. Don't know if it's related. Spoiler <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CVE72Ae82Tw&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CVE72Ae82Tw&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> You're right, but that was pretty much always there, even in life. He is without question one of my favorite musicians. Maybe my interpretation of his life & work was colored by Cobain's similar passing, but it seemed pretty obvious at the time that Smith wasn't built to make it to 40. If it allows you to appreciate him any more richly, you could choose to remember that foul play was never ruled out, that his death was never officially ruled a suicide. I don't think that interpretation would be any different than picking one strand of the kaleidoscope of meaning found in his songs' lyrics. There were two stab wounds to his heart: at the very least, the guy did appreciate symbolism.
Did you see my post in the "summarize Rockets season with a youtube video" thread? You might appreciate... or not.
No, I somehow missed that thread. (Kinda surprised no one has uploaded the video of the empty balloon yet, sailing into the night sky, then crashing into the field, no Icarus to be found. An empty balloon, which captivates attention, the Falcon unable to hear the Falconer, but then falls apart = a mercurial season, signifying nothing). Though, I must congratulate you on recognizing/sharing Kermit's dead-on Royal Tenenbaums parody (clip decidedly NSFW; also, spoiler). The "needle in the hay," in this instance = the handful of games McGrady will play spectacularly this season, after his limited number of cortisone injections? "[You ought to be proud that I'm getting...] good marks" = the bruises that will still inexplicably cover Yao's arms, despite him already being sidelined for the season? I'll follow you through the eye of that needle, B-Bob. I getcha.
Transmissions From the Satellite Heart - The Flaming Lips Embryonic - The Flaming Lips - have not listened to this album yet And got a couple Captain Beefheart albums to listen to as well Safe as Milk Clear Spot
