Yes - there are so many great Miles albums....

Anything by the first quintet, primarily the albums on Prestige in "Cookin'", "Relaxing", "Working", and "Steamin'" as well as the debut on Columbia in "Round About Midnight". Also, "Milestones" is excellent as it features close to the same group that plays on "Kind of Blue". Also look for the Cannonball Adderly album on Blue Note in "Somethin' Else" in which Miles makes one of his rare sideman appearances.

Other favs by Miles includes "Miles Smiles", "A Tribute to Jack Johnson" (favorite Miles fusion), "On the Corner" and "Get Up With It" (absolutely essential if you are into more experimental and avant-garde stuff) although I love pretty much any of his fusion stuff from '68 to '75. The stuff he released from '81 to his death is forgettable, IMO and beneath him as an artist. To me, Miles' final album was "Get Up With It".

I definitely need to get that album - let us know what you think about it after you give it a couple of listens.

Here is what I have been listening to and plan on for the next couple of days:

"Our Love to Admire" - Interpol
    "Silent Alarm" - Bloc Party
    "Hot Fuss" - The Killers
"At War With the Mystics" - The Flaming Lips
"A Ghost Is Born" - Wilco
"White Light/White Heat" - The Velvet Underground
    "Ege Bamyasi" - Can
"20 Jazz Funk Greats" - Throbbing Gristle
    "Roxy Music" - Roxy Music
"Before and After Science" - Brian Eno
"Ask the Ages" - Sonny Sharrock
    "F # A # (Infinity)" - GY!BE

    Blake,

It is sorta hit and miss type album - very similar to Antics in that regard (however, "Evil" is still my all-time favorite song by them). The best songs on "Our Love to Admire" are "Pioneer to the Falls", "No I in Threesome" (which challenges "Evil" as my favorite song by them ever), "Mammoth", "The Heinrich Manuever", and "Rest My Chemistry" (which is probably the 2nd best song on the album after "Threesome"). Granted, I saw them live at the Ryman with the mrs when this album had just come out, so seeing these songs performed live helps make the album a little better for you. But don't expect to be wowed by every song like you were on the first album (which still remains one of the best debut albums of the 2000s by anyone, IMO).

Yeah Moonlit Sailor is definitely one of the more straight forward formulaic post rock bands, But I still dig it.

I'm mostly a hip-hop guy, but a friend of mine put me on Kings of Leon and I love their music ... can anyone recommend something of similar nature or music type?

David Bazan (of Pedro the Lion fame)'s new album "Curse Your Branches" is very good...the first song "Hard to Be" was NPR's Song of the Day yesterday.

    Recommend x 1000.

    The Clash, pretty much everything.

    Rock the Casbah
Should I Stay Or Should I Go
    Stand By Your Man
    London Calling
    Train In Vain
    I Fought The Law

Also, because my grandfather died this past weekend I've been listening to Sarah McLachlan's "Angel". It just reminds me so much about him. The first time he had a stroke, there was a 99% chance of him dying. I remember this song was playing on the radio at the same exact time. He managed to beat the odds and lived another eleven years and watched me grow up. I just wished he would've seen me graduate college. Anyways, I know he's with the angels right now. R.I.P.

Not really about what I'm listening to, but about 10 minutes ago I stopped at an intersection in downtown Portland to let Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse cross the street in front of me.

I'm the biggest Interpol fan! I agree, "Turn on the Bright Lights" is my favorite album of this decade.

But the best track on Our Love to Admire was actually left off the regular album. It was released as a B-Side on the official Japanese release. The track is called "Mind Over Time."

It might be one of the best Interpol tracks I've ever heard.

By the way have you checked out Paul Bank's (lead singer of Interpol) solo project called Julian Plenti? It has some pretty good tracks as well. It was released a few weeks ago.
